The Local-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ 2016 թվականի հունվարից Իտալիայում ապրում է ավելի քան 5 միլիոն ներգաղթյալ: Վիճակագրական տվյալներով՝ դա կազմում է երկրի բնակչության 8.3 տոկոսը:

Հետազոտությունը ցույց է տվել, որ օտարերկրյա աշխատողները երկրի տնտեսությունում ունենում են այնպիսի ներդրում, որը համադրելի է Fiat կոնցեռնի հետ:

Հետազոտության համաձայն՝ նրանք ֆինանսավորում են 640.000 թոշակառուի: Իտալիայում գտնվող միայն 100.000 ներգաղթյալ է ստանում թոշակ: Այդ մասին նշված է Լեոնե Մորեսի հիմնադրամի պատրաստած «Ներգաղթի տնտեսական ազդեցությունը» զեկույցում:

Ըստ այդմ՝ 2015 թվականին աշխատանքային ներգաղթյալները երկրին բերել են 7 միլիարդ եվրոյի հարկ ու սոցիալական ապահովմանը՝ 11 միլիարդ եվրո: Ընդհանուր առմամբ նրանք երկրի ՀՆԱ-ին բերել են 126 միլիարդ եվրո կամ ՀՆԱ-ի ընդամենը 8.8 տոկոսը: Դա 10 միլիարդ դոլարով պակաս է այն ներդրումից, որը երկրի տնտեսությունում ունենում է երկրի գլխավոր մեքենաշինական ընկերությունը՝ «Ֆիատը» (տարեկան 136 միլիարդ եվրո): Նախորդ տարի ներգաղթյալների եկամուտը կազմել է 123 միլիարդ եվրո:
