Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը Եվրամիությանն անդամակցելու գործընթացի շուրջ վերջին շրջանում հնչեցված կարծիքների առնչությամբ խիստ խոսքեր է հնչեցրել կառույցի և դրա անդամների վերաբերյալ: Ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը, այս մասին տեղեկացնում է թուրքական «Անադոլու» գործակալությունը:

Էրդողանը մեղադրել է Եվրամիությանը Թուրքիային տված խոստումները չկատարելու մեջ` առաջարկելով ԵՄ-ին անդամակցելու շուրջ բանակցային գործընթացի վերաբերյալ որոշումը հանրաքվեի դնել: Քննադատելով բանակցությունները դադարեցնելու վերաբերյալ եվրոպացի պաշտոնյաների հայտարարությունները` նա ասել է. «Արդեն ուշացել եք, անմիջապես որոշում ընդունեք: Որպես նախագահ հայտարարում եմ, որ կհամբերենք մինչև տարեվերջ, դրանից հետո կդիմենք ժողովրդին»: Նա հիշեցրել է, որ Միացյալ Թագավորությունը ևս հանրաքվեի գնաց և դուրս եկավ կառույցից:

Անդրադառնալով Եվրոպական խորհրդարանի նախագահ Մարտին Շուլցի հայտարարությանն այն մասին, որ Թուրքիայում ներկայիս ներքին իրադրության պահպանման պարագայում կարող է օրակարգ գալ պատժամիջոցների կիրառումը` Էրդողանը հայտարարել է. «Դո՞ւ ինչ ես: Երբվանի՞ց ես Թուրքիայի անունից որոշումներ կայացնելու իրավունք ստացել: Դու դեռ Թուրքիային չես ճանաչում: Այս բռիին նայեք, ասում է, թե պատժամիջոց են կիրառելու»:

Թուրքիայի նախագահը դատապարտել է Արևմուտքին մահապատժի վերականգնման պարագայում ԵՄ բանակցային գործընթացը դադարեցնելու մասին հայտարարությունների համար: Էրդողանը նշել է, որ իր ժողովրդի ճակատագիրը ոչ թե Եվրոպայի, այլ հենց իրենց ձեռքերում է:
