 Հայաստանը, որպես ԼՂ հակամարտության կարգավորման բանակցային սեղանի շուրջ վերադառնալու նախապայման, կարող է պահանջել բանակցություններում Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի մասնակցությունը: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է Արմենպրեսը, վկայակոչելով «Ամերիկայի ձայն» ռադիոկայանը, այս մասին Կոնգրեսի հայ-ամերիկյան բարեկամության խմբի միջ ոցառման ընթացքում հայտարարել է Հայաստանում Միացյալ Նահանգների նախկին դեսպան Ջոն Էվանսը:

«Ես օրինակ հայերին չէի մեղադրի, եթե բանակցությունները վերսկսելու նախապայման դրվեր սեղանի շուրջ Ղարաբաղի մասնակցությունը»,- ասել է նա:

Պաշտոնական Բաքուն ոչ միայն չի ճանաչում Լեռնային Ղարաբաղը, այլեւ հրաժարվում է բանակցություններ վարել Ղարաբաղի ներկայացուցիչների հետ, պնդելով, որ հակամարտությունը Հայաստանի եւ Ադրբեջանի միջեւ է: Էվանսի խոսքով, սակայն, Ղարաբաղը վաղուց պատրաստ է ինքնությույն քաղաքականություն վարել:

Ղարաբաղյան հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորման եւ Միացյալ Նահանգների դերի մասին «Ամերիկայի Ձայն»-ին տված հարցազրույցում խոսել է նաեւ Կոնգրեսի հայ-ամերիկյան բարեկամության խմբի համանախագահ կոնգրեսական Ֆրանք Փալոնը: Նրա խոսքով՝ կոնգրեսականները նախատեսում են մոտ ապագայում այս հարցերը քննարկել նորընտիր նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի վարչակազմի բարձրաստիճան ներկայացուցիչների հետ.

«Մենք նախատեսում ենք հանդիպել Թրամփի վարչակազմի պաշտոնյաների հետ, որպեսզի համոզված լինենք, որ նրանք պատշաճ ուշադրություն են դարձնելու Մինսկի խմբում ամերիկյան համանախագահությանը եւ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորմանը, որն Արցախը հայաշատ կպահի»,- ասել է նա՝ ընդգծելով, որ Կոնգրեսի հայ-ամերիկյան բարեկամության խումբը երկկուսակցական է եւ շարունակելու է արդյունավետ կերպով գործել անկախ նրանից, թե ում կողմում է Կոնգրեսի մեծամասնությունը՝ դեմոկրատների թե, ինչպես այժմ` հանրապետականների:
