Երուսաղեմը պետք Է դառնա երկու պետությունների՝ Իսրայելի եւ Պաղեստինի մայրաքաղաքը: Այս հայտարարությամբ, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, հանդես Է եկել ԱՄՆ-ի պետքարտուղար Ջոն Քերին՝ լրագրողների առջեւ ելույթ ունենալով արտաքին քաղաքական գերատեսչությունում:
 
«Երուսաղեմը պետք Է դառնա երկու պետությունների մայրաքաղաքը»,-նշել Է ամերիկյան դիվանագիտության ղեկավարը, որն արդեն հունվարի 20-ին կթողնի իր պաշտոնը:
Մեկուկեսժամանոց ելույթի ընթացքում Քերին բացատրել Է այն բանի պատճառները, թե ինչու ԱՄՆ-ի պատվիրակությունը դեկտեմբերի 23-ին ՄԱԿ-ի Անվտանգության խորհրդում ձեռնպահ մնաց այն բանաձեւի շուրջ քվեարկելիս, որն Իսրայելից պահանջում Է անհապաղ դադարեցնել հրեական բնակավայրերի կառուցումը բռնազավթված պաղեստինյան տարածքներում:
 
Քերին ընդգծել Է, որ Թել Ավիվի կողմից այդ քաղաքականության շարունակումը կխոչընդոտի «երկու պետություն՝ երկու ժողովուրդների համար» սկզբունքի իրագործմանը: «Եկեք պարզ խոսենք, նոր բնակավայրերի կառուցումը ոչ մի ընդհանուր բան չունի Իսրայելի անվտանգության հետ»,-ասել Է նա: 
Արտաքին քաղաքական գերատեսչության ղեկավարը ելույթի ընթացքում նաեւ կոչ Է արել Իսրայելին՝ ճանաչել Պաղեստին Պետությունը 1967 թվականի սահմաններում եւ Արեւելյան Երուսաղեմ մայրաքաղաքով: 
 
«Մենք չենք կարող հաշտություն պարտադրել»,-նշել Է ամերիկյան դիվանագիտության ղեկավարը՝ խոսելով պաղեստինա-իսրայելական ուղղակի բանակցությունների մասին: Ընդ որում՝ նա նախազգուշացրել Է, որ եթե Իսրայելը չընդունի «երկու պետություն՝ երկու ժողովուրդների համար» սկզբունքը, ապա նա չի կարողանա «իսկական խաղաղության մեջ լինել մնացած արաբական երկրների հետ»: «Եվ ես կարող եմ վստահորեն հայտարարել այդ մասին»,-հավելել Է Քերին, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
