Զորացրված զինծառայողների հետ Դիլիջանում կայացած  հանդիպմանը նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը կրկնել է իր դիրքորոշումը՝ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության կարգավորման գործընթացի վերաբերյալ:
 
«Մեր նպատակը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի վերջնական կարգավիճակը որոշելն է՝ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի բնակիչների միջոցով»,- ասել է նախագահը՝ ընդգծելով, որ ոչ ոք իրավունք չունի արցախցիներին  պարտադրել ապրելու իրենց պայմաններով:

«Այնտեղ ապրողներն իրենք պետք է որոշեն, թե   ինչ կարգավիճակով են ուզում ապրել: Որևէ մեկն իրավունք չունի նրանց պարտադրել ապրել իրենց պայմաններով.  ո՛չ Ադրբեջանը, ո՛չ Հայաստանը, ո՛չ ուրիշները: Ես չեմ ասում, որ հայ ժողովրդի կամքը պետք է անտեսել: Բացարձակապես ոչ, որովհետև առանց Հայաստանի, առանց մեր ողջ ժողովրդի,   Ղարաբաղում ապրողները բոլոր ժամանակներում չեն կարող այդ խնդիրը լուծել: Բայց դա չի նշանակում, որ մենք պետք է որոշենք իրենց փոխարեն: Մենք պետք է սատարենք, որպեսզի նրանց կամքը կատարվի: Եվ ես վստահ եմ, որ գալու է ժամանակ, երբ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի խնդիրը լուծվելու է հենց այդ ճանապարհով»,-հավելել է հանրապետության ղեկավարը:

 Անդրադառնալով բանակցային գործընթացին՝  Սերժ Սարգսյանը հիշեցրել է, որ ամբողջ ընթացքում հիմնախնդրի կարգավորման շուրջ տարբեր մոտեցումներ ու առաջարկներ են եղել, սակայն մենք երբեք այնքան մոտ չենք եղել իր նշած նպատակին, որքան հիմա,  և միջազգային հանրության մոտեցումներն էլ այսքան հստակ չեն եղել:

«Այսօր միջազգային հանրության մոտեցումն ակնհայտ է.  Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի  վերջնական  կարգավիճակը պետք է որոշվի Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի բնակիչների կողմից: Բայց խնդիրը նրանում է, որ մենք գործ ունենք մի կողմի հետ, որի նպատակն է  հայության դուրսմղումը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղից:  Նրանք կարողացան դա անել Նախիջևանում, նրանք  կարողացան դա անել մնացած հայաշատ վայրերում, և նրանց նպատակը սա է, ուստի բացարձակապես վստահություն չկա: Իսկ եթե վստահություն չկա, ապա մենք պիտի կարողանանք ամրագրել այնքան մանրամասներ, որոնք հնարավորություն չեն տա նրանց՝ կես ճանապարհին կանգնելու»,- ասել է նախագահ Սարգսյանը՝ հավելելով, որ մնացած բոլոր խնդիրները հեշտությամբ կլուծվեն, եթե ադրբեջանցիներն իրոք անկեղծ լինեն իրենց մոտեցումներում:

Սերժ Սարգսյանն ընդգծել է նաև, որ Մադրիդյան սկզբունքների առաջին կետում նույնպես ամրագրված է, որ ԼՂ կարգավիճակը պետք է որոշվի ԼՂ բնակչության կողմից, ուստի հարց է առաջանում ՝ եթե  ադրբեջանցիներն  այս սկզբունքը չեն ընդունել, ապա   վերջին  10 տարիների ընթացքում  ինչի՞  շուրջ են կողմերը բանակցել, իսկ եթե ընդունել են, ապա ինչո՞ւ հարցը լուծում չի ստանում: «Ուրեմն՝ կամ մենք կամ էլ իրենք  անկեղծ չեն: Բայց ես բազմաթիվ անգամ հայտարարել եմ, որ մենք անկեղծ ենք: Այստեղ անհրաժեշտ է կամք, որպեսզի այս խնդիրը կարողանանք լուծել»,- շեշտել  է նախագահը:
