45-ամյա Քերոլ Վեյչին ավելի քան մեկ տարի առաջ «latrodectus» տեսակի սարդ կծեց։ Խայթոցից առաջացած սարսափելի ռեակցիայի պատճառով նա մինչ օրս չի կարողանում գրկել իր 4 երեխաներին։ Նախկինում Քերոլը սարդերից չէր վախենում, սակայն պատահարից հետո նրա մոտ իբրև հետտրավմատիկ սթրեսային խանգարում արախնոֆոբիա առաջացավ, ու կինը վախենում է անգամ տնից դուրս գալ։ Քերոլը տունն էր հավաքում, երբ զգաց, որ ինչ-որ բան կծեց իր կոճը։ Քանի որ նրան չհաջողվեց գտնել միջատին կամ խայթածի տեղը, նրան սկզբում թվաց, թե իր մաշկային գրգռվածությունն առաջացել է ամառային տապից, սակայն երկու օրից նրա սրնքամիսն ու կոճն ուժեղ այտուցվեցին։ Բացի այդ, նրա մոտ գրիպի ախտանշաններ առաջացան։

Քերոլ Վեյչը իր 51-ամյա ամուսնու՝ Ռիչարդի ու հնգամյա որդու՝ Փոլի հետ նախքան սարդի խայթոցը։
Ես շարունակ հազում էի ու չէի կարողանում հազալ։ Ես բժշկի դիմեցի և ինձ հայտնեցին, որ ինձ մոտ կրծքային ինֆեկցիա է ու բրոնխիտ։ Ես խնդրեցի բժշկին հետազոտել իմ ոտքը։ Չնայած սարսափելի դրությանսս՝ նա ինձ ստերոիդներ նշանակեց։
Բժշկի այցելելուց մի քանի օր անց կինը լոգարանում սարդ հայտնաբերեց։ Նա տարավ սարդին տեղի առողջապահական հիմնարկություն, որտեղ մասնագետներն ասացին, որ նրա ախտանշանները հավանաբար հենց այդ սարդ խայթոցից էլ առաջացել է։ Բոլորը ցնցված էին, քանի որ նախկինում Լիդսում ոչ մի նմանատիպ դեպք չէր արձանագրվել։ Այդ տեսակի սարդի խայթոցի առավելագույնը տարեկան տասը դեպք է գրանցվում ողջ Մեծ Բրիտանիայում։
Через два дня после укуса икра и лодыжка Кэрол очень сильно распухли, плюс ко всему у неё начали проявляться гриппозные симптомы. В течение следующих 8 недель на её теле появились язвы и опухоли.
Հետագա 8 շաբաթներին նրա մարմնի վրա խոցեր ու այտուցներ առաջացան։
Несчастный случай сильно повлиял на её семью. Сейчас она полностью зависит от мужа и не может обнимать своих детей.
Վեյչի վիճակը գնալով ծանրանում էր։ Այտուցներն ու խոցերը հայտնվում էին անգամ ձեռքերի ու դեմքի վրա։ Թեպետ կինը բուժման կուրս է անցնում, վերքերը սարսափելի ցավային զգացողություններ են առաջացնում անմիջական ֆիզիկական շփման ժամանակ։ - Ես չեմ կարողանում երեխաների հետ լողավազան գնալ, որովհետև ես նման եմ բորոտի։ Ես չեմ կարողանում փողոց դուրս գալ ու ցույց տալ ձեռքերս, որովհետև ես ամաչում եմ։ Դեմքս խիստ այտուցվել է, իսկ մարմինս պատվել խոցերով։ Ես չեմ կարողանում հանգիստ քնել, քանի որ ինձ համակել է այն վախը, որ ինձ կրկին կարող են խայթել։ Անցյալ շաբաթ մենք հյուրասենյակում սարդ գտանք, և դրանից հետո ես 2 գիշեր չէի կարողանում քնել, - պատմում է Քերոլը։ Ներկայումս նա կանոնավորապես հաճախում է թերապիայի կուրսերի, որպեսզի կարողանա հաղթահարել իրեն համակած վախը։ Այս դժբախտ պատահարը ծանր ազդեցություն թողեց կնոջ ընտանիքի վրա։ Ներկայումս  Քերոլ Վեյչը լիովին ամուսնուց է կախված ու անգամ չի կարողանում ողջագուրվել իր երեխաների հետ։
