Մարդու իրավունքների սկզբունքներից հրաժարվելը հիվանդություն է, որը տարածվում է ամբողջ աշխարհում։Այս մասին հայտնել է ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Անտոնիու Գուտերեշը ՄԱԿ մարդու իրավունքների հարցերով խորհրդի 34-րդ նստաշրջանի բացման ժամանակ։ Սա նրա առաջին ուղերձն է Խորհրդի անդամներին որպես ՄԱԿ գլխավոր քարտուղար, հայտնում է ՄԱԿ-ի ռադիոն։

«ՄԱրդու իրավունքները, նրա քաղաքական, տնտեսական, սոցիալական ու մշակութային իրավունքները չպետք է մանրադրամ դառնան։ Այդ հարցը չի կարելի թողնել հետոյին, ու զբաղվել դրանով խաղաղության ու զարգացման նպատակների ապահովումից հետո։ Մարդու իրավունքները մեր կյանքի անբաժան մասն են։ Դրա համար էլ մենք պետք է դրանք պաշտպանենք անաչառ ու առանց երկակի ստանդարտների կիրառման»,- ասել է նա։

Նա նշել է, որ երկրները պետք է կիսեն պատասխանատվությունը ու համատեղ լուծեն ժամանակակից աշխարհի մի շարք արդիական խնդիրներ, այդ թվում փախստականների օգնությունը։ Նա նաեւ Խորհրդի անդամներին կոչ է արել միավորել ջանքերը՝ խաղաղապահների շրջանում սեռական հանցագործությոնների դեպքերը վերացնելու ու մահապատժին ու կտտանքներին վերադառնալուց հրաժարվելու համար։

Մարդու իրավունքների հարցերով խորհրդի 34-րդ նստաշրջանը կտեւի 4 շաբաթ, դրա մասնակիցները կքննարկեն ավելի քան 100 զեկույց։ Իսկ ՄԱԿ գլխավոր քարտուղարը Նյու Յորք կվերադառնա երկուշաբթի երեկոյան։
