Հարփեր Լին ավիաընկերության սովորական աշխատակից էր։ 1965 թվականի դեկտեմբերին նա նամակ ստացավ ընկերներից, որում գրված էր՝ «Դու մեկ տարի արձակուրդ ունես, որպեսզի գրես այն, ինչ ցանկանում ես։ Շնորհավոր Ամանոր»։ Հարփերի ընկերները նրան 1 տարի վճարվող արձակուրդ նվիրեցին, ինչի շնորհիվ էլ ծնվեց «Սպանել ծաղասարյակին» վեպը, որը 30 միլիոն օրինակով տպվեց, տարածվեց ամբողջ աշխարհում և թարգմանվել շատ լեզուներով։

  • Գրեթե բոլոր մարդիկ էլ լավն են, եթե կարողանաք հասկանալ նրանց։
  • Եթե երեխան որևէ բան է հարցնում, մի խուսափեք պատասխանելուց։ Նրանք նույնպես նկատում են այդպիսի պահվածքը և էլ ավելի են շփոթվում։
  • Բոլոր երեխաներն էլ ինչ-որ տարիքում սկսում են վիճել բոլորի հետ, սակայն երբ հասկանում են, որ դրանով ոչ ոքի չեն զարմացնի, թողնում են այդ վատ սովորությունը։
  • Առավոտյան ամեն ինչ այնքան էլ սարսափելի չի թվում։
  • Մարդիկ տարօրինակ սովորություն ունեն. նույնիսկ ամենաարտասովոր իրավիճակներում իրենց պահում են այնպես, կարծես թե ոչինչ չի եղել։
  • Ոչ մի լավ բան չկա նրանում, որ մշտապես հարկավոր է որևէ մեկին ատել։
  • Հանուն փոփոխության փորձեք կռվել ոչ թե բռունցքներով, այլ գլխով։
  • Խիզախությունն այն է, երբ նախորոք իմանալով, որ պարտվել ես, գործի ես անցնում և անկախ ամեն ինչից՝ գնում ես մինչև վերջ։ Հաղթում ես շատ հազվադեպ, սակայն երբեմն հաղթում ես։
  • Եթե ինքդ քեզ մեղավոր չես համարում, ապա պետք չէ ներողություն խնդրել։
  • Ես կարծում եմ, որ կա մարդկանց մեկ տեսակ՝ մարդը։
