«Ժողովուրդ» թերթը գրում է.  

«Մինչ ՀՀԿ-ն զբաղված է խորհրդարանական ընտրությունների նախընտրական քարոզարշավով, վարչապետ Կարեն Կարապետյանը փորձում է առաջ տանել 2018թ. ապրիլից հետո վարչապետի պաշտոնում իր աշխատելու հարցը:

Պատահական չէ այն փաստը, որ թեև ՀՀԿ ցուցակը գլխավորում է պաշտպանության նախարար Վիգեն Սարգսյանը, սակայն ՀՀԿ նախընտրական քարոզարշավն անցկացնում է անձամբ Կարեն Կարապետյանը: Ավելին` վարչապետը սոցիալական ցանցերից մեկում «Ռոյթերզ» գործակալությանը տված հարցազրույցի հղումը տեղադրել է հետևյալ նախաբանով` «Հայաստանի տնտեսական զարգացման իմ տեսլականը` 2018թ-ից»:

Այլ կերպ ասած` Կարապետյանը շատ հստակ հասկացրել է, որ դեռ երկար ժամանակ ինքն է լինելու Հայաստանի վարչապետը` անկախ այն խոսակցություններից, որ 2018թ. ապրիլից, երբ ուժի մեջ մտնի նոր Սահմանադրությունը, ինքը չի բավարարի կառավարության անդամների համար սահմանված չափորոշիչներին, քանի որ վերջին չորս տարում մշտապես չի բնակվել Հայաստանում:

Ամենայն հավանականությամբ, Կ. Կարապետյանին այս վստահությունը ներշնչել է Սերժ Սարգսյանը, որը, «Ժողովուրդ»-ի տեղեկություններով, ՀՀԿ խորհրդի վերջին նիստում հայտարարել է, թե վարչապետը երկարատև գործունեություն է ծավալելու: Ավելին` ըստ մեզ հասած լուրերի` նա նաև նշել է, թե Կարապետյանը մեծ անելիք ունի ինչպես կուսակցությունում, այնպես էլ պետության մեջ, և նրա հետ երկարատև պլաններ են մշակել: Սա ՀՀԿ-ականների մոտ կարծիք է ձևավորել, որ Սերժ Սարգսյանն իր իշխանությունը մտադիր է հանձնել Կարեն Կարապետյանին»:
