Աշխատանքային այցով Արարատի մարզ մեկնած Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը մարտի 28-ին մասնակցել է Վեդու ջրամբարի հիմնարկեքի արարողությանը, որին ներկա են եղել նաև փոխվարչապետ, միջազգային տնտեսական ինտեգրման և բարեփոխումների նախարարը, Արարատի մարզպետը, Ջրային տնտեսության պետական կոմիտեի նախագահը, Ֆրանսիայի և Իրանի արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպանները, «Ֆրանսիական զարգացման գործակալության» Հարավային Կովկասի գրասենյակի ղեկավարը, պաշտոնատար այլ անձինք: 

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ Նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, Հանրապետության Նախագահը ջրամբարի կառուցման շինհրապարակում ծանոթացել է շինարարական նախագծերին, զրուցել ծրագրի պատասխանատուների և շինարարների հետ: Նրանց հավաստմամբ, Վեդու ջրամբարի կառուցման նախագիծը պատրաստվել է ժամանակակից գիտական փորձի կիրառմամբ, ինչը երաշխավորում է հիդրոտեխնիկական կառույցի բարձր արդյունավետությունն ու անվտանգությունը:

Ջրամբարի կառուցումը կարևոր քայլ է գա լիք տասնամյակներում Արարատյան դաշտի շուրջ 7500 հեկտար հողատարածքների հուսալի ոռոգումը և գյուղատնտեսության զարգացումն ապահովելու, ինչպես նաև Սևանա լճի էկոլոգիական հավասարակշռության վերականգնմանն աջակցելու համար: Ջրամբարի նախագիծը պատրաստվել է ֆրանսիական «ARTELIA EAU & ENVIRONMENT» և բելգիական «SHER Ingenieurs-Conseils» ընկերությունների կողմից՝ «ՋՐՏՈՒՔ» ՍՊԸ-ի հետ համատեղ: Շինարարությունն իրականցվում է հայկական «Սահակյանշին» և իրանական «Պեգա Քընսթրաքշն» կոնսորցիումի կողմից: 

Պատասխանատուները հույս են հայտնել, որ անկախ Հայաստանի պատմության մեջ զրոյական մակարդակից կառուցվող առաջին ջրամբարի շինարարությունը մեկնարկի նոր կետ կդառնա ոլորտի զարգացման համար և վստահեցրել են, որ այսօրվա ձեռնարկի արդյունքները ընդամենը 3-4 տարի հետո շոշափելի կդառնան Արարատի մարզի ավելի քան 50 հազար գյուղացիական տնտեսությունների համար: 

Մասնագետները Հանրապետության Նախագահին զեկուցել են, որ Վեդու ջրամբարի ընդհանուր ծավալը կազմելու է 29,4 մլն խորանարդ մետր, իսկ ջրատվությունը՝ 32,3 մլն խորանարդ մետր: Ջրամբարը կլցվի Վե դի և Խոսրով գետերի հեղեղային (ազատ) հոսքերով՝ ոռոգման շրջանից դուրս: Վեդու ջրամբարի համար նախատեսվում է կառուցել երկու պատվար, թասի մակերեսը 120 հեկտար է: Ջրամբարի և ոռոգման համակարգի կառուցման 90 մլն եվրո արժողությամբ ծրագիրն իրականացվում է Զարգացման ֆրանսիական գործակալության վարկային միջոցներով և ՀՀ կառավարության համաֆինանսավորմամբ: 



Վեդու ջրամբարի պատվարի և օժանդակ կառուցվածքների կառուցման աշխատանքները մեկնարկել են 2017 թվականի մարտին և նախատեսված են ավարտել 2021 թվականի մարտին:

Հանրապետության Նախագահին զեկուցել են նաև, որ ծրագրի իրականացման չորս տարիների ընթացքում կստեղծվի շուրջ 250 նոր աշխատատեղ՝ ամսական 220-250 հազար դրամ միջին աշխատավարձով:
