ն Սարգսյանը հույս ունի խորհրդարանական ընտրություններից հետո շարունակել աշխատանքը պաշտպանության նախարարի պաշտոնում: Ռուսական լրատվամիջոցների ներկայացուցիչների հետ հանդիպմանը Վիգեն Սարգսյանը հույս է հայտնել, որ առաջիկա ընտրություններում Հայաստանի Հանրապետական կուսակցության հաղթանակի դեպքում իր գործընկերները իրեն հնարավորություն կտան շարունակելու աշխատանքը պաշտպան ության նախարարի պաշտոնում: «Ես շատ եմ կարևորում այս ոլորտը մեր կառավարման համակարգում` հաշվի առնելով գոյություն ունեցող սպառնալիքները և մարտահրավերները: Այս ոլորտում աշխատանքի մեծ դաշտ եմ տեսնում և հույս ունեմ, որ ժամանակ կունենամ բարեփոխումներ իրականացնել պաշտպանության ոլորտում, ինչը, իմ կարծիքով,  ժամանակի մարտահրավեր է»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ` նշել է Սարգսյանը:

Նա ընդգծել է, որ շատ խնդիրներ կան, որոնք կոմպլեքս լուծում են պահանջում:  «Հաշվի առնելով հանգամանքը, որ ՀՀ քաղաքացիների մեծ մասը զինված ուժերի շարքերում ծառայում են պարտադիր ժամկետային հիմունքներով, ես նաև կարևոր եմ համարում, որպեսզի զինվորական ծառայության երկու տարիները մեր քաղաքացիների համար լինեն ոչ միայն հայրենիքին սուրբ պարտքը տալու տարիներ, այլ այդ տարիների ընթացքում մեր երիտասարդները հնարավորություն ունենան  լրացուցիչ կրթություն ստանալ, զարգացնել կարողությունները և գիտելիքները ու ծառայությունից հետո քաղաքացիական կյանք վերադառնալ գիտելիքների, հմտությունների ամուր պաշարով»,- ասել է նախարարը:

Վիգեն Սարգսյանն ընդգծել է, որ շատ անելիքներ ունեն հայկական զինված ուժերի մարտունակության բարձրացմանն ուղղված աշխատանքները շարունակելու առումով: «Ես շատ անելիքներ եմ տեսնում նաև ոլորտում կառավարման արդյունավետությունը բարձրացնելու առումով: Ուստի, ես շատ երջանիկ կլինեմ, եթե ընտրությունների արդյունքները հնարավորություն տան շարունակելու այն աշխատանքը, որ մենք սկսել ենք 6 ամիս առաջ և վստահ եմ, որ կարող ենք մինչև վերջ տանել»,- եզրափակել է ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարը:
