Ադրբեջանի տրանսպորտի նախարար Զիյա Մամեդովը, ով համարվում է Ադրբեջանի ամենահարուստ մարդկանցից մեկը, արտահայտել է իր վերաբերմունքը ԱՄՆ մի խումբ սենատորների պահանջի վերաբերյալ, ովքեր պահանջում են մանրամասն ուսումնասիրել ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի սեփական ընկերության՝ Ադրբեջանում ծավալած գործունեությունը:

Սենատորները, մասնավորապես, պահանջել են ուսումնասիրել Բաքվի կենտրոնում կառուցված Trump Tower երկնաքերի կառուցման մանրամասները, որն ըստ պնդումների կառուցվել է Ադրբեջանի տրանսպորտի նախկին նախարար Զիյա Մամեդովի ընտանիքի և Թրամփի ընկերության կողմից:

Սենատորները կասկած են հայտնել Դոնալդ Թրամփի և Մամեդովների ընտանիքի մեջ հնարավոր կոռուպցիոն գործարքների վերաբերյալ և ամերիկյան ԶԼՄ-ներում այդ թեմայով տեղ են գտել մի շարք հոդվածներ:

Ադրբեջանական «Ենի մուսավաթ» թերթի հետ զրույցում Զիյա Մամեդովը անդրադառնալով այդ ամենին` ամերիկյան ԶԼՄ-ներին մեղադրել է զրպարտության մեջ:

«Ամերիկյան ԶԼՄ-ները, որոնք այդ թեմայով նյութեր են հրապարակել զբաղվում են զրպարտությամբ»,- ասել է Զիյա Մամեդովը:

ԱՄՆ սենատորներ Շերրոդ Բրաունը, Բեն Քադինը և Դայան  Ֆենշտեյնը ԱՄՆ ֆինանսների նախարարին, գլխավոր դատախազին և Հետաքննությունների դաշնային բյուրոյի տնօրենին ուղղված նամակում կոչ էին արել կոռուպցիայի դեմ պայքարի և պատժամիջոցների օրենքի շրջանակներում ուսումնասիրել Թրամփի՝ Ադրբեջանում ծավալած բիզնես գործունեությունը:

ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսի հրապարակման համաձայն` սենատորների մտահոգության պատճառ է հանդիսացել Նյու Յորքեր ամսագրում 2017-ի մարտի 13-ին տպագրված «Դոնալդ Թրամփի ամենավատ համաձայնագիրը» վերնագրով հետազոտական հոդվածը:

Հոդվածում խոսվում է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Թրամփի և Ադրբեջանի տրանսպորտի նախկին նախարար Զիյա Մամմեդովի ընտանիքի միջև եղած կապերի մասին:

Սենատորների նամակում ասվում է  որ պետք է մանրակրկիտ ուսումնասիրություն կատարվի, քանի որ կարող է պարզվել, որ Trump Organisation ընկերության կատարած գործարքների արդյունքում Թրամփը և նրա կազմակերպությունը գտնվում են Ադրբեջանի կոռումպացված օլիգարխների ազդեցության տակ:
