ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսականները կոչ են անում նախագահ Թրամփին ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը

 ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփին է ուղարկվել 84 կոնգրեսականների կողմից ստորագրված նամակը, որով նրան կոչ են անում ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը: Այս մասին  տեղեկացրին ԱՄՆ Հայ դատի հանձնախմբից: Կոնգրեսում հայկական հարցերի հանձնախմբի համանախագահ Ֆրանկ Փալոնի խոսքով, պետք է հաշվի առնել մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանության գործում ԱՄՆ-ի առաջամարտիկ լինելը և այս տարի նախա գահի ելույթում պատշաճ կերպով 1915 թվականին կատարվածը պետք է բնութագրել որպես ցեղասպանություն:

«Ավելի քանի 100 տարի է անցել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից և ժամանակն է ճանաչել հայերի նկատմամբ իրականացրած վայրագությունները՝ հստակ կոչելով իրեն անունով՝ ցեղասպանություն: Դա կարող է լինել հզոր հայտարարություն նախագահ Թրամփի կողմից իր նախագահության առաջին փուլում` հիշելով 1.5 մլն հայերի, որոնք Օսմանյան Թուրքիայի կողմից իրականացրած 20-րդ դարի առաջին ցեղասպանության անմեղ զոհերն էին»,-ասել է նա:

Նախագահ Թրամփին ուղղված նամակում մասնավորապես ասված է. «Անկեղծորեն և ճիշտ առաջնորդելով ցեղասպանության հիշատակման գործը` դուք պետք է հետևեք նախագահ Ռեյգանին, ով ճանաչել է Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը 1981 թվականին, և Էյզենհաուերի վարչակազմին, որը արեց նույնը 1951 թվականին` գործը ներկայացնելով Արդարադատության միջազգային դատարան»:

Նախագահության տարիներին Ռոնալդ Ռեյգանը ճանաչել է Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը` հայտարարելով, որ Հոլոքոստի դասերը երբեք չպետք է մոռացվեն, ինչպես Հայոց ցեղասպանությանը, որը տեղի ունեցավ մինչ այդ, և Կամբոջայի ցեղասպանությանը, որը հաջորդեց դրան:
