Հունահռոմեական ըմբշամարտի Հայաստանի հավաքականը Սերբիայի Նովի Սադ քաղաքում ավարտին մոտեցող Եվրոպայի առաջնությունում ելույթն ավարտեց մեկ բրոնզե մեդալով, որը նախօրեին 98 կգ քաշային կարգում նվաճել էր Օլիմպիական չեմպիոն Արթուր Ալեքսանյանը:

Եվրոպայի առաջնության վերջին օրը Հայաստանն ուներ 4 ներկայացուցիչ՝ Ռաֆայել Ալեքսանյանը (71 կգ), Կարապետ Չալյանը (75 կգ), Սարգիս Քոչարյանը (80 կգ) եւ Մաքսիմ Մանուկյան (85 կգ), որոնք մեդալ չնվաճեցին:

Կարապետ Չալյանը պայքարը սկսել էր որակավորման փուլից, որտեղ 6:2 հաշվով հաղթել էր սերբ Վիկտոր Նեմեսին, իսկ 1/8 եզրափակիչում 2:1 հաշվով պարտության էր մատնել թուրք Էմրե Կուշին: Երրորդ գոտեմարտում գյումրեցի ըմբիշը 0:4 հաշվով պարտվեց հունգարացի Տամաշ Լորինցին, որն էլ պարտություն կրեց կիսաեզրափակիչում:

Մաքսիմ Մանուկյանը որակավորման փուլում 2:1 հաշվով ուժեղ էր գտնվել վրացի Ռոբերտ Կոբիաշվիլուց, իսկ 1/8 եզրափակիչում 2:0 հաշվով հաղթել էր սերբ Դեյան Ֆրանկյովիչին, որը որակավորման փուլում պայքարից դուրս էր թողել Ռիո-2016 օլիմպիական չեմպիոն, ռուսաստանցի Դավիդ Չակվետաձեին (7:4): Քառորդ եզրափակիչում Մանուկյանը 1:2 հաշվով պարտություն կրեց Գերմանիան ներկայացնող Ռամսին Ազիզսիրից, որը չկարողացավ դուրս գալ եզրափակիչ:

Ռաֆայել Ալեքսանյանը (71 կգ) որակավորման փուլում 1:6 հաշվով պարտվել էր թուրք Մուրատ Դագին, իսկ Սարգիս Քոչարյանը (80 կգ) մեկնարկել էր 1/8 եզրափակիչից՝ 1:2 հաշվով պարտվելով ուկրաինացի Դիմիտրո Պիշկովին: Ալեքսանյանին ու Քոչարյանին հաղթած ըմբիշները եւս չեն կարողացել դուրս գալ եզրափակիչ, եւ Հայաստանի ներկայացուցիչները զրկվեցին բրոնզե մեդալի համար պայքարելու հնարավորությունից:

Հիշեցնենք, որ հունահռոմեական ըմբշամարտի Եվրոպայի առաջնության առաջին օրը Օլիմպիական չեմպիոն Արթուր Ալեքսանյանից բացի, հանդես էին եկել նաեւ Գեւորգ Ղարիբյանը (59 կգ), Կարեն Ասլանյանը (66 կգ) եւ Վաչիկ Եղիազարյանը (130 կգ), որոնք մեդալ չէին նվաճել: Արթուր Ալեքսանյանն էլ ծնկի վնասվածք էր ստացել մարզման ժամանակ եւ դեռ մինչեւ անցած շաբաթ հարցականի տակ էր նրա մասնակցությունը Եվրոպայի առաջնությանը:

Ազատ ոճի ըմբշամարտի Հայաստանի հավաքականն Արմեն Մկրտչյանի գլխավորությամբ Եվրոպայի առաջնությունում նվաճել էր 3 բրոնզե մեդալ: Վոլոդյա Ֆրանգուլյանը (61 կգ), Գրիգոր Գրիգորյանը (74 կգ) եւ Լեւան Բերիանիձեն (125 կգ) գրավել էին երրորդ տեղը, իսկ Գարիկ Բարսեղյանը (57 կգ), Նարեկ Սիրունյանը (65 կգ), Վահե Թամրազյանը (86 կգ) եւ Գեորգի Կետոեւը (97 կգ) հաջող հանդես չէին եկել:
