 Սիցիլիայում մեկնարկում Է Յոթի խմբի ղեկավարների գագաթնաժողովը: Այս տարի այն անցկացվում Է 43-րդ անգամ: Աշխարհի յոթ առավել զարգացած արդյունաբերական երկրների խումբը նախագահող Իտալիան գագաթնաժողովի անցկացման վայր Է ընտրել Տաորմինա ոչ մեծ քաղաքը, որը գտնվում Է Սիցիլիա կղզու արեւելյան մասում, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը:
 
Ինչպես սպասվում Է, Մեծ Բրիտանիայի, Գերմանիայի, Իտալիայի, Կանադայի, ԱՄՆ-ի, Ֆրանսիայի եւ Ճապոնիայի ղեկավարները կքննարկեն արդի առավել սուր խնդիրները: Յոթ քաղաքական գործիչներից չորսի համար հանդիպումը առաջինը կլինի G7-ի ձեւաչափով: Խոսքը վերաբերում Է ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփին, Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Էմանուել Մակրոնին, Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Թերեզա Մեյին եւ Իտալիայի վարչապետ Պաոլո Ջենտիլոնիին: Կանադայի վարչապետ Ջասթին Թրյուդոն գագաթնաժողովին կմասնակցի երկրորդ անգամ, Ճապոնիայի նրա պաշտոնակից Սինձո Աբեն՝ վեցերորդ, իսկ Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելի համար դա թվով տասներկուերորդ գագաթնաժողովն Է:
