Կանադայի մայրաքաղաք Օտտավայի կենտրոնում` Համադաշնության պուրակում, հունիսի 9-ին հայ-կանադական դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունների հաստատման 25-ամյակի և Կանադայի Համադաշնության 150-ամյակի կապակցությամբ կայացավ կանադահայ աշխարհահռչակ լուսանկարիչ Յուսուֆ Քարշի հուշարձանի բացման հանդիսավոր արարողությունը: Ինչպես տեղեկանում ենք ՀՀ ԱԳՆ մամուլի, տեղեկատվության և հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից, հուշարձանի բացումը կատարեցին Կանադայում ՀՀ դեսպան Արմեն Եգանյանը, Կանադայի Սենատի նախագահ Ջորջ Ֆյուրին և հուշարձանի հեղինակ, հանրահայտ կանադահայ քանդակագործ Մկրտիչ Տարագճեանը:

Բացման արարողությունից հետո Օտտավայի կենտրոնում գտնվող «Շատո Լորիե» հյուրանոցի «Կանադական» սրահում ՀՀ դեսպանության կազմակերպմամբ կայացավ պաշտոնական ընդունելություն, որին մասնակցում էին Սենատի նախագահ Ջորջ Ֆյուրին, ՀՀ-ում Կանադայի դեսպան Ջոն Քըրը, կանադացի սենատորներ և պատգամավորներ, Կանադայում հավատարմագրված դեսպաններ, Կանադայի արտաքին գործերի և ժառանգության նախարարությունների բարձրաստիճան ներկայացուցիչներ, դիվանագետներ, Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու հոգևոր հայրեր, հայ համայնքային կառույցների ղեկավարներ, մեծ թվով կանադահայեր, լրագրողներ:

Միջոցառմանն ունեցած իր ելույթում դեսպան Եգանյանը նշեց, որ Օտտավայի կենտրոնում Յուսուֆ Քարշի արձանի առկայությունը մշտապես հանդիսանալու է հայ-կանադական բարեկամական հարաբերությունների ամենագեղեցիկ խորհրդանիշներից մեկը: Դեսպանն ընդգծեց, որ հատկանշական է արձանի բացումը Համադաշնության պուրակում հենց այն տարում, երբ նշվում է Կանադայի Համադաշնության 150-ամյակը և հայ-կանադական դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունների 25-ամյակը: Իր խոսքում ՀՀ դեսպանը նաև շնորհակալություն հայտնեց Կանադայի կառավարությունը ներկայացնող պաշտոնյաներին և կանադահայ համայնքի անդամներին ու կազմակերպություններին, ովքեր իրենց ավանդն են ներդրել ծրագրի իրականացման գործում:

Կանադայի կառավարության անունից ելույթով հանդես եկավ Կանադայի ժառանգության նախարարի խորհրդարանական քարտուղար Արիֆ Վիրանին, ով շնորհակալություն հայտնեց ՀՀ դեսպանությանը և հայ համայնքին` իրականացրած մեծածավալ աշխատանքի և Համադաշնության 150-ամյակի առթիվ Կանադային արված այս բացառիկ նվերի համար:

Ձեռնարկի ընթացքում Արմեն Եգանյանը հայ-կանադական հարաբերությունների զարգացման գործում ունեցած մեծ ավանդի համար ՀՀ դեսպանության պատվոգրերով պարգևատրեց ՀՀ-ում Կանադայի դեսպան Ջոն Քըրին և Կանադայի արտաքին գործերի նախարարության Արևելյան Եվրոպայի և Եվրասիայի վարչության գլխավոր տնօրեն Էլիսոն ԼեՔլերին: ՀՀ դեսպանության պատվոգրեր հանձնվեցին նաև Յուսուֆ Քարշի հուշարձանի հիմնման գործում առանձնահատուկ ներդրում ունեցած կանադահայ համայնքի մի շարք ներկայացուցիչների:

Երեկոյի ընթացքում հայկական ազգային երաժշտությունն ու պարարվեստը ներկայացնող կատարումներով հանդես եկան կանադահայ համայնքի մի շարք շնորհաշատ ներկայացուցիչներ:
