 Միացյալ Նահանգների պետդեպարտամենտը շարունակելու է աշխատել իրավապահ մարմինների հետ Թուրքիայի նախագահի թիկնազորի  կողմից Վաշինգտոնում խաղաղ ցուցարարների նկատմամբ իրականացված հարձակման հետաքննության գործով: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին լրատվամիջոցների հետ ճեպազրույցի ժամանակ հայտարարել է ԱՄՆ պետդեպի խոսնակ Հիթեր Նոյերթը:

Նա մեջբերել է ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Ռեքս Թիլերսոնի մեկնաբանությունը միջադեպի հետ կապված հետաքննության ու ձերբակալման մասին որոշումների վերաբերյալ: Մեկնաբանության մեջ ասվում է. «Թուրքական անվտանգության 12 աշխատակցի դեմ ներկայացված մեղադրանքները հստակ ուղերձ են առ այն, որ Միացյալ Նահանգները չի հանդուրժում անհատների, ովքեր վախ ու բռնություն են օգտագործում  խոսքի ազատությունը ճնշելու համար: Պետդեպարտամենտն այս գործով շարունակելու է աշխատել իրավապահ մարմինների ու համապատասխան իրավական մարմինների հետ: Երբ լինի արդյունք, պետդեպարտամենտը կհստակեցնի, թե արդյոք անհրաժեշտ են հավելյալ քայլեր»:

ԱՄՆ պետդեպի խոսնակը հրաժարվել է պատասխանել լրագրողների հարցին առ այն, թե արդյոք իրենք պատրաստվում են Թուրքիայից պահանջել թիկնազորի անդամների արտահանձնումը: «Մենք աշխատելու ենք իրավապահ մարմինների ներկայացուցիչների հետ՝ վստահ լինելու, որ բռնության համար բոլոր պատասխանատուները իրենց գործողությունների համար պատասխանատվության կենթարկվեն»,- ասել է Հիթեր Նոյերթը:

Վաշինգտոնի քաղաքապետ Մուրիել Բոուսերը և ոստիկանապետ Փիթեր Նյուշեմը հունիսի 15-ին կայացած համատեղ մամուլի ասուլիսի ժամանակ հայտարարել են, որ մայիսի 16-ին խաղաղ ցուցարարների վրա հարձակում իրականացրած՝ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի կողմնակից խմբի 12 անդամի ձերբակալության հրաման է տրվել:

«Ինչպես ավելի վաղ հայտնել եմ արդեն, դատապարտում եմ այս հարձակումը: Դա հակասում է մեր արժեքներին, քանի որ հարձակում էր ամերիկացիների հիմնարար իրավունքների կատարման դեմ: Մենք կոչված ենք պաշտպանելու և պահպանելու այդ իրավունքները», - ասել է Վաշինգտոնի քաղաքապետը՝ ավելացնելով, որ ցանկանում են հստակեցնել իրենց դիրքորոշումը:

Ավելի վաղ հայտնի էր դարձել, որ ԱՄՆ-ում երկու անձ է ձերբակալվել, որոնք նույնպես մասնակցել են Վաշինգտնում Թուրքիայի դեսպանության առջև հայ, քուրդ և ամերիկացի ցուցարարների դեմ իրականավցած հարձակմանը: Նրանցից մեկը շինարարական ընկերության սեփականատեր Էյուփ Յըլդըրըմն է Նյու Ջերսիից, մյուսը` Վիրջինիա նահանգի բնակիչ Սինան Նարինը:
