Հիսուս Քրիստոսի Պայծառակերպության՝ Վարդավառի տոնը Հայ Եկեղեցու հինգ տաղավար տոներից երրորդն է, որն այս տարի կնշվի հուլիսի 23-ին:
 
Տոնի խորհուրդի մասին Life.panorama.am-ը զրուցել է Տեր Եսայի քահանա Արթենյանի հետ:
«Այս տոնի մեջ հատկապես կարեւորվում է Քրիստոսի Պայծառակերպությունը: Ըստ Ավետարանի՝ մեր Տեր Հիսուս Քրիստոսը Պետրոս, Հակոբոս եւ Հովհաննես առաքյալների հետ բարձրանում է Թաբոր լեռն` աղոթելու: Աղոթքի պահին Հիսուսը նրանց առաջ պայծառակերպվում է՝ ցույց տալով իր աստվածային փառքն ու լույսը, որով իր աշակերտներին հաստատեց իրենց առաքելության եւ հավատքի մեջ: Քրիստոսը դրանով ուզում էր ցույց տալ, որ մենք ոչ թե իրեն ընկալենք որպես հրաշագործի կամ աճպարարի, ով հրաշալի իրողություններ էր կատարում, այլ ամենակարեւորը, որ մենք Քրիստոսին ընկալենք իբրեւ Փրկիչ, իբրեւ Աստված, ով եկել էր՝ մարդկանց փրկության առաջնորդելու: Սա Վարդավառի հոգեւոր հիմնական խորհուրդն է»,- նշեց Տեր Եսային:
 
Խոսելով տոնի ժողովրդական ավանդույթներից՝ քահանան նկատեց.
«Վարդավառի ժողովրդական ավանդույթները միայն ջուր ցողելով չի սկսվում եւ ավրատվում: Հատկապես մարզերում, ջուր ցողելուց ավելի տարածված են մատաղները: Մասնավորապես տարիներ առաջ մարդիկ մասայականորեն մատաղներ էին անում Վարդավառին եւ առհասարակ տաղավար տոներին: Քանի որ Վարդավառը չունի հատուկ տոնական ուտեստ, ուստի այս տոնին ավելի հատուկ են հենց մատաղները, որի նպատակը աղքատներին կերկրելն է՝ բարեգործությունը: Վարդավառի ավանդույթներից է նաեւ խնձոր խորովելը: Տարիներ առաջ հայերի մոտ գեղեցիկ ավանդույթ կար՝ նրանք նոր սեզոնին խնձոր չէին ուտում, ինչպես ժողովուրդն է ասում՝ խնձորի պահք էին պահում, մինչեւ այս տոնը: Իսկ Վարդավառին հատկապես երիտասարդները միմյանց խնձոր էին նվիրում եւ դրանով իրենց սերն էին խոստովանում, քանի որ խնձորը համարվում է սիրո ու պտղաբերության խորհրդանիշ: Դե իսկ ջուր ցողելու ավանդույթը եւս շատ սիրված է մեր ժողովրդի կողմից»:
