Վլադիմիր Պուտինը ծնվել է Լենինգրադ (այժմյան Սանկտ Պետերբուրգ քաղաքում) 1952 թվականին։ Չնայած իր ներկայիս հարստությանը՝ նա մեծացել է աղքատ ընտանիքում՝ Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի ավարտից հետո առաջացած ճգնաժամի ժամանակ։ Ահա նրա՝ դպրոցական տարիքում՝ 1960 և 1965 թվականներին արված երկու լուսանկարները։

Դեռ դպրոցում սովորելիս Պուտինը գիտեր, որ կամ բանակ կգնա կամ էլ համալսարան։ Այս լուսանկարն արվել է 1970 թվականին, երբ նա նոր էր սկսել իրավաբանություն սովորել Սանկտ Պետերբուրգի պետական համալսարանում։

Ձախ կողմի լուսանկարն արվել է 1972 թվականին՝ իրավաբանի որակավորում ստանալուց երեք տարի առաջ։ Իսկ աջ կողմի լուսանկարն արվել է 1980 թվականին՝ 5 տարի անց այն բանից, երբ Պուտինն աշխատանքի անցավ Պետական անվտանգության կոմիտեում (КГБ):

Մի քանի տարի նշանադրված լինելուց հետո Վլադիմիրն ու Լյուդմիլան Սանկտ Պետերբուրգում ամուսնացան։ Սակայն երկար տարիներ երջանիկ ապրելուց հետո՝ 2014թվականին, նրանք բաժանվեցին։
