Թուրքիայի խորհրդարանի քրդամետ Ժողովուրդների դեմոկրատական կուսակցության հայազգի պատգամավոր Կարո Փայլանը սեպտեմբերի 19-ին հյուրնկալվել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանի արևելագիտության ֆակուլտետում: Ուսանողների հետ հանդիպման ժամանակ ԵՊՀ պրոռեկտոր Ռուբեն Մարկոսյանը Փայլանին հանձնեց բուհի ոսկե մեդալ:

Ներկայացնելով հյուրին՝ Արևելագիտության ֆակուլտետի փոխդեկան Ռուբեն Մելքոնյանը շեշտեց, որ Հայաստանի երրորդ  Հանրապետության հռչակումից հետո Կարո Փայլանը Թուրքիայի խորհրդարանի առաջին հայազգի պատգամավորն:

«Նա առաջինն է, ով  Թուրքիայի խորհրդարանում բարձրաձայնել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության խնդիրը: Կարո Փայլանը մինչև պատգամավոր ընտրվելը եղել է Թուրքիայի հայ համայնքի ակտիվ գործիչներից  մեկը և հատկապես զբաղվել է կրթական խնդիրներով»,- ընդգծեց Ռուբեն Մելքոնյանը:

Արևելագիտության ֆակուլտետի փոխդեկանը կարևորեց նաև, որ Կարո Փայլանը զբաղվում է, ոչ միայն հայ համայնքի շահերի պաշտպանությամբ և խնդիրների բարձրաձայնմամբ, այլև նրա գործունեության օրակարգում է Թուրքիայի Հանրապետության փոքրամասնությունների խնդիրներն ու իրավունքների պաշտպանությունը:

Կարո Փայլանը ԵՊՀ ուսանողներին ողջույնի խոսք ուղղելուց հետո պատասխանեց նաև ուսանողների հարցերին:

«Ես շատ ուրախ եմ, որ գտնվում եմ Հայաստանում և որ առիթ ունեցա Երևանի պետական համալսարանում ձեզ հետ հանդիպելու: Ակտիվ երիտասարդներին տեսնելով՝ Հայաստանի և մեր ապագայի հանդեպ լցվում եմ մեծ հույսով: Ինչպես գիտեք, ես Թուրքիայի քաղաքացի եմ և թուրքական խորհրդարանի պատգամավոր, իսկ պատգամավոր դառնալուց հետո առաջին անգամ եմ  գտնվում Հայաստանում:

Ես պայքարում եմ Թուրքիայում ժողովրդավարության հաստատման համար: Կարծում եմ՝ հայերը նույնպես պետք է մասնակցեն Թուրքիայում ժողովրդավարության հաստատման գործին: Այս գործը սկսել է Հրանտ Դինքը, և մենք շարունակում ենք»,- ուսանողներին ողջունեց Կարո Փայլանը:

Այն հարցին, թե ինչ հանգամանքներում է Փայլանը պատկերացնում Թուրքիայի կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը, Թուրքիայի մեջլիսի պատգամավորը շեշտեց, որ դա, ըստ իրեն, հնարավոր է այդ երկրում ժողովրդավարության հաստատման արդյունքում:
