Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը սեպտեմբերի 21-ին ընդունել է ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսականների պատվիրակությանը, որի կազմում են ինչպես Հանրապետական, այնպես էլ Դեմոկրատական կուսակցությունների ներկայացուցիչներ, Կոնգրեսի հայկական հարցերով հանձնախմբի համանախագահներ Ֆրենք Փալոունը և Ջեքի Սփիըրը, կոնգրեսականներ Աննա Էշուն, Թուլսի Գեբրդը և Ջիմ Սենսենբրեները: 

Ինչպես  տեղեկացրին ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության եւ տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, նշելով, որ ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի երկկուսակցական պատվիրակության այցը Հայաստան վկայում է այն մասին, որ ԱՄՆ-Հայաստան հարաբերությունների զարգացման և խորացման հարցում Հայաստանը աջակիցներ և բարեկամներ ունի թե՛ հանրապետականների և թե՛ դեմոկրատների շարքերում, Սերժ Սարգսյանը խորհրդանշական է համարել, որ ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսականներն այցելել են Հայաստան երկու երկիրների միջև դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունների հաստատման հոբելյանական՝ 25-րդ տարում:

Հանրապետության Նախագահն ընդգծել է, որ անկախությունից ի վեր անցած 26 տարիների ընթացքում Հայաստանը զգալի ձեռքբերումների է հասել տարբեր ոլորտներում, որը հնարավոր է եղել նաև Միացյալ Նահանգների աջակցության շնորհիվ: Նախագահ Սարգսյանը երախտագիտություն է հայտնել բարեկամ Միացյալ Նահանգներին Հայաստանի անկախ պետականության ամրապնդմանն ու զարգացմանն ուղղված այդ օժանդակության, ինչպես նաև այն կարևոր դերակատարության համար, որ ԱՄՆ-ը՝ որպես ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահող երկիր, ունի ԼՂ հիմնախնդրի կարգավորման գործընթացում: 

Սերժ Սարգսյանը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել Միացյալ Նահանգների կոնգրեսականներին և հատկապես Կոնգրեսի հայկական հարցերով հանձնախմբի ներկայացուցիչներին՝ այն հսկայական աշխատանքի համար, որ տարիներ ի վեր նրանք իրականացնում են Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման և դատապարտման ուղղությամբ: 
ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսականները նշել են, որ ուրախ են Անկախության տոնի օրը Հայաստանում գտնվելու և տոնը հայ ժողովրդի հետ միասին նշելու հնարավորության համար: Հանդիպմանը ներկա կոնգրեսականներից նրանք, ովքեր առիթ են ունեցել անկախության առաջին տարիներին լինելու Հայաստանում, նշել են, որ երկրում զգալի փոփոխություններ են եղել, և դրական տեղաշարժերն ակնառու են:

Կոնգրեսականներն իրենց պատրաստակամությունն են հայտնել ջանքեր գործադրել հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների հետագա ընդլայնման և խորացման ուղղությամբ: Նրանք նաև իրենց տպավորություններն են կիսել Հանրապետության Նախագահի հետ Արցախ կատարած այցելությունից՝ նշելով, որ տպավորված են Արցախի ժողովրդավարական առաջընթացով:
