Եվրոպայի խորհրդի խորհրդարանական վեհաժողովում հայաստանյան պատվիրակության անդամ Նաիրա Զոհրաբյանը վստահ է, որ Պեդրո Ագրամունտը վեհաժողովի նախագահի պաշտոնից հրաժարվել է, որպեսզի հեռանա նվաստացման նվազագույն ավարով: 

Նաիրա Զոհրաբյանը հիշեցրեց, որ ԵԽԽՎ առաջիկա նստաշրջանի օրակարգի առաջին հարցը հենց Պեդրո Ագրամունտին վեհաժողովի նախագահի պաշտոնից քվեարկությամբ հեռացնելն էր: 

«Այս պարագայում նա հեռանալու էր նվաստացման առավելագույն ավարով: Ուստի, որպեսզի հեռանար նվաստացման նվազագույն ավարով, նա հրաժարական տվեց` նշելով, որ այդ քայլին գնում է իր բժիշկների խորհրդով: Ես համոզված եմ, որ նա այդ քայլին գնացել է իր «քաղաքական բժիշկների» խորհրդով»,- ասաց Նաիրա Զոհրաբյանը:

Հարցին, թե ի՞նչ ընթացակարգով է ընտրվելու ԵԽԽՎ նոր նախագահը, Նաիրա Զոհրաբյանը մանրամասնեց, որ ԵԽԽՎ նախագահն ընտրվում է ներքին քաղաքական պայմանավորվածությունների արդյունքում ռոտացիոն կարգով: Ընտրություններն անցկացվում են  յուրաքանչյուր 2 տարին մեկ:

 «Մինչև հունվար պետք է նախագահեր ԵԽԽՎ ամենամեծ քաղաքական խմբակցության` Եվրոպայի ժողովրդական կուսակցության ներկայացուցիչը, որը Պեդրո Ագրամունտն էր: Հունվարից ԵԽԽՎ-ում նախագահելու է Սոցիալիստական կուսակցության ներկայացուցիչը: Նրանք արդեն խմբակցության նիստում որոշել են, թե ով է հունվարից նախագահելու Եվրոպայի խորհրդի խորհրդարանական վեհաժողովում: Վեհաժողովի նոր նախագահը հունվարից կլինի իտալացի Միխայելով Նիկոլետին»,- պարզաբանեց Նաիրա Զոհրաբյանը: Մինչև ԵԽԽՎ նոր նախագահի ընտրությունը վեհաժողովի նախագահի պարտականությունները կկատարի ամենատարեց փոխնախագահը` Ռոջեր Գեյլը:

Պեդրո Ագրամունտը երկար ժամանակ զրկված էր նիստ նախագահելու իրավունքից: Նա շարունակելու է հանդես գալ որպես ԵԽԽՎ պատգամավոր և կգլխավորի վեհաժողովում Իսպանիայի պատվիրակությունը:

Պեդրո Ագրամունտը հայտարարել է ԵԽԽՎ նախագահի պաշտոնից հրաժարվելու մասին: Նա գրել է, որ նման որոշում է կայացրել անձնական պատճառներով:
