Շաֆին մոտ 6 տարի է, ինչ Հայաստանում է: Այս ընթացքում նա  հասցրել է բավականին ճամփորդել, այն էլ՝ ավտոստոպով: Այդ ճամփորդություններից մեկի ժամանակ էլ հանդիպել է այն մարդուն, ով իրեն ուղղորդել է դեպի Stand up. «Ուղղակի կանգնում էի ճամփեզրին և ձեռքս պարզում, իսկ բարի վարորդները համաձայնվում էին ինձ իրենց հետ անվճար տեղափոխել մի վայրից մյուսը։ Հայաստանի գրեթե բոլոր մասերում եղել եմ։ Ճամփորդություններից մեկի ժամանակ ընկերներիցս մեկն ինձ ասաց․ «Եղբայր, դու պետք է սթենդափներ անես, համոզված եմ՝ մարդիկ շատ կսիրեն քեզ», ես էլ մտածեցի՝ իսկ ինչու ոչ։ Նա ինձ ծանոթացրեց հայտնի սթենդափեր Լյուսի Ալեքսանյանի հետ, ում միջոցով էլ ծանոթացա պրոդյուսեր Սարգիս Մնոյանի հետ, և այդպես սկսեցինք աշխատանքները»։

Շաֆին խորհուրդ է տալիս՝ եթե դժվարանում եք որևէ մեկին ասել ճշմարտությունը, ապա դա անելու լավագույն եղանակը հումորն է. «Սթենդափների ժամանակ հիմնականում խոսում եմ մարդկանց կյանքի ու ապրելաոճի մասին` հիմնվելով սեփական փորձիս վրա։ Ուսումնասիրում եմ, թե տարբեր մարդիկ ինչպես և ինչ կյանքով են ապրում, ինչ սովորություններ ունեն։ Ընդ որում՝ ոչ միայն խոսում եմ հայերի կամ հնդիկների, այլ նաև տարբեր ազգերի մասին, քանի որ, բացի Հայաստանից, եղել եմ շատ այլ երկրներում։ Սովորաբար նաև համեմատականներ եմ անցկացնում տարբեր ազգերի միջև»:

Շաֆիի խոսքով՝ իրեն մեր երկրում շատ ջերմ են ընդունել. «Շատ եմ սիրում հայերին ու ողջ հայ ժողովրդին։ Երբեմն պատահում է, որ մաշկիս գույնի և, առհասարակ, տարբեր տեսք ունենալու պատճառով տարօրինակ հայացքների եմ արժանանում, բայց դա նորմալ է, ես ինձ վատ չեմ զգում դրանից, չնայած հազվադեպ են նման դեպքեր լինում։ Մարդիկ շատ ջերմ ու սիրալիր են։ Այստեղ ինձ բացարձակ օտար չեմ զգում։ Երբ նոր մարդկանց եմ հանդիպում, հարցնում են․ «Ախպեր ջան, Ջիմիին գիտե՞ս»։ Երևի արդեն պատկերացրիք, թե ինչպիսի հարաբերություններ են իմ ու հայերի միջև»։
