Մայքլ Ֆելոնը զրկվել է պաշտպանության նախարարի պաշտոնից կառավարությունում ինտրիգների պատճառով, իսկ կանանց հանդեպ անպարկեշտ վարքագիծը ընդամենը առիթ էր։ Այս մասին հայտնել է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին՝ վկայակոչելով The Telegraph թերթը։

Նախարարի հրաժարականի նախաձեռնողը Անդրեա Լիդսն էր՝ Համայնքների պալատի ղեկավարը։ Պարբերականի տեղեկություններով՝ նա, իմանալով, որ Ֆելոնը մտադիր է հասնել իր հեռացմանը հանուն Բրեքսիթի մասին գործարքի փրկության, «կանխարգելիչ հարված» է հասցրել ու գանգատվել վարչապետ Թերեզա Մեյին՝ նախարարի կողմից ոտնձգությունների մասին։ Կինը հայտնել է, որ Ֆելոնը գրկել է իրեն ու ասել, որ «գիտի, թե որտեղ կարող է տաքացնել իր ձեռքերը»։

«Դա նրա կողմից ինքնապաշտպանություն է եղել ու նա ամբողջովին ոչնչացրել է Ֆելոնին։ Նա մեջքից հարված է հասցրել»,- գրում է թերթը, վկայակոչելով կառավարությունում իր անանուն աղբյուրը։

Ֆելոնը որոշել է հրաժարական տալ այն ժամանակ երբ բրիտանացի լրագրող Ջուլիա Հարթլի Բրյուերը մեղադրել է նրան այն բանում , որ 15 տարի առաջ նա ձեռքը դրել էր իր ծնկին։

Ֆելոնն ընդունել է իր մեղավորությունը։ «Վերջերս եղան մի շարք մեղադրանքներ, այդ թվում անցյալում իմ վարքագծի վերաբերյալ։ Այդ մեղադրանքներից շատերը սուտ են, սակայն ես ընդունում եմ , որ անցյալում ինձ անպարկեշտ եմ պահել։ Ես արել եմ եզրակացություններ ու հրաժարական եմ տալիս»,- ասել է նախարարը։

Մայքլ Ֆելոնը պաշտպանության նախարարի պաշտոնը զբաղեցրել է Դեւիդ Քեմերոնի կաբինետում 2014-ին ու պահպանել է այն Թերեզա Մեյի օրոք:
