Կարկադեն վառ կարմիր գույնի թեյային ըմպելիք է, որը պատրաստվում է հիբիսկուսի ծաղիկներից: Այն շատ տարածված է Եգիպտոսում և Հնդկաստանում, ունի քաղցրաթթու համ և շատ լավ է ծարավը հագեցնելու համար: Սա է պատճառը, որ այն այդքան տարածված է շոգ երկրներում:

Ըմպելիքը պատրաստվում է հասարակ թեյի նման՝ ծաղիկները եռման ջրում թրմելով:

Ավելի հագեցած ըմպելիք ստանալու համար կարելի է օգտագործել ավելի շատ թուրմ և թրմել ավելի երկար (10-15 րոպե): Սովորաբար կարկադե պատրաստելու համար մեկ բաժակ ջրին անհրաժեշտ է ավելացնել մեկ թեյի գդալ հիբիսկուսի ծաղիկներ:

Կարկադե պատրաստելիս ցանկալի է օգտագործել ապակյա, ճենապակյա կամ կերամիկական սպասք: Ոչ մի դեպքում չի կարելի օգտագործել մետաղյա սպասք, քանի որ այդ ժամանակ ըմպելիքը կկորցնի իր համն ու գույնը: Ճիշտ թրմած ըմպելիքը պետք է ունենա մաքուր, վառ կարմիր գույն:

Կարկադեն կարելի է օգտագործել տարբեր կերպ: Ցուրտ անձրևոտ օրերին այն կարելի է խմել տաք վիճակում մի փոքր շաքարավազով, իսկ ամառվա տապին՝ սառույցով ու կիտրոնով:
