Իրանում ՀՀ դեսպան Արտաշես Թումանյանը դեկտեմբերի 12-ին հանդիպել է ԻԻՀ պաշտպանության և զինված ուժերի աջակցման նախարար, բրիգադի գեներալ Ամիր Հաթամիի հետ: Այս մասին տեղեկացրին ՀՀ արտաքին գործերի նախարարության մամուլի, տեղեկատվության և հասարակայնության հետ կապի վարչությունից՝ հավելելով. «Հանդիպման սկզբում դեսպան Թումանյանը նախարար Ամիր Հաթամիին փոխանցեց ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարար Վիգեն Սարգսյանի ջերմ ողջույնները և իր գոհունակությունը հայտնեց պաշտպանության ու անվտանգության բնագավառում հայ-իրանական հարաբերությունների ներկա վիճակի կապակցությամբ:

Նախարար Հաթամին, բարձր գնահատելով հայ-իրանական հարաբերությունների մակարդակը, նշեց, որ հարևանների հետ կապերի ամրապնդումն Իրանի արտաքին քաղաքականության հիմնական ուղղություններից մեկն է, և ՀՀ անկախության 26 տարիների ընթացքում այդ կապերը միայն զարգացում են ապրել:

Ներկայացնելով ՀՀ դիրքորոշումը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության կարգավորման հարցում՝ դեսպան Թումնայնաը բարձր գնահատեց ﬕջազգային իրավունքի հիման վրա հիﬓախնդրի բացառապես խաղաղ կարգավորմանն ուղղված Իրանի հավասարակշռված դիրքորոշումը: Դեսպան Թումանյանը կարևորեց նաև պաշտպանության և տարածաշրջանային անվտանգության ոլորտում երկու երկրների պաշտպանական գերատեսչությունների միջև մշտական կապի ստեղծման և խորհրդատվությունների անցկացման հանգամանքը: 

Ի պատասխան նախարար Ամիր Հաթամին նշեց, որ հակամարտության կարգավորմանը նպաստելու նպատակով Իրանը վարում է հավասարակշիռ քաղաքականություն և կոչ է անում կողմերին շարունակել բանակցությունները խաղաղ կարգավորման շուրջ:

Զրուցակիցներն անդրադարձան նաև Մերձավոր Արևելքում տիրող իրավիճակին՝ կարևորելով տարածաշրջանում երկարատև խաղաղության հաստատան անհրաժեշտությունը, որը բխում է բոլոր երկրների շահերից:

Հանդիպմանը ներկա էր նաև ԻԻՀ-ում ՀՀ նորանշանակ ռազմական կցորդ, գնդապետ Արթուր Ազնավուրյանը»:
