Անկարայի քաղաքապետ Մուստաֆա Թունան  հայտնել է, որ Անկարայում ԱՄՆ դեսպանատան հարակից փողոցը անվանափոխվելու է սիրիական Աֆրինում թուրքական ԶՈւ կողմից քրդերի դեմ իրականացվող «Ձիթենու ճյուղ»  ռազմական գործողության անվան:

Այս մասին հայտնում է թուրքական Diken պարբերականը:

«Անկարայի Նեվզաթ Թանդօղանի պողոտայի անունը «Ձիթենու ճյուղ»-ով փոխարինելու վերաբերյալ առաջարկություն ենք ստորագրել: Այս երեկո առաջարկությունը կներկայացնենք ավագանու քվեարկությանը: Թող բարին լինի, մեր սուրբ նահատակների հոգին թող լուսավորվի»,- իր թվիթերյան էջում գրել է  Թունան:

Թուրքիայի զինված ուժերը հունվարի 20-ից Սիրիայի Աֆրին շրջանում քրդերի դեմ ռազմական գործողություն են սկսել, որը ստացել է «Ձիթենու ճյուղ» անվանումը: Պաշտոնական Դամասկոսը դատապարտել է Աֆրինում Թուրքիայի գործողությունները՝ նշելով, որ Աֆրինը Սիրիայի անբաժան մասն է:

Միացյալ Նահանգների պետքարտուղար Ռեքս Թիլերսոնի՝ Թուրքիա կատարելիք այցին ընդառաջ այդ երկրի արտգործնախարար Մևլութ Չավուշօղլուն հայտարարել է, որ կամ կարգավորելու են հարաբերություններն ԱՄՆ-ի հետ, կամ ամբողջությամբ վատանալու են:  Նա նշել է, թե ԱՄՆ կողմից իրենք լուրջ սխալներ են նկատել: «Միացյալ Նահանգները չի պահում մեզ տված խոսքերը: Բնական է, որ ինչպես մեր ժողովուրդը, այնպես էլ մենք՝ ղեկավարներս, կորցրել ենք հավատն այդ երկրի նկատմամբ: Խոսքերի փոխարեն հստակ քայլեր ենք ուզելու Թիլերսոնից: Մեր հարաբերությունները կրիտիկական կետի վրա են: Կամ հարաբերությունները կվերականգնվեն, կամ էլ այդ հարաբերություններն ամբողջությամբ կփչանան»,- ասել է Չավուշօղլուն: ԱՄՆ-ի հետ պաշտոնական Անկարայի հարաբերությունները լարվել էին Թուրքիայում 2016 թվականի ռազմական հեղաշրջման փորձից հետո, երբ ամերիկյան իշխանությունները հրաժարվեցին Թուրքիային հանձնել չափավոր իսլամի քարոզիչ Ֆեթուլլահ Գյուլենին, ում թուրքական կողմը մեղադրում է հեղաշրջման փորձը կազմակերպելու մեջ: Ավելի ուշ թուրք-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունները լարվեցին Սիրիայում տեղի ունեցող զարգացումների ֆոնին: Թուրքական կողմը իր զայրույթը հայտնեց այն փաստի առնչությամբ, որ ԱՄՆ-ն զինում է Սիրիայի քրդական PYD-ի զինյալներին, որին պաշտոնական Անկարան ահաբեկչական կազմակերպություն է համարում:
