Հայաստանի Հանրապետության պաշտպանության նախարար Վիգեն Սարգսյանը փետրվարի 21-ին, ընդունել է Հարավային Կովկասի եւ Վրաստանի ճգնաժամի հարցերով ԵՄ հատուկ ներկայացուցիչ Տոյվո Կլաարի գլխավորած պատվիրակությանը:

ՊՆ-ից հայտնում են, որ բարձր գնահատելով Հայաստան-Եվրամիություն հարաբերությունները եւ ողջունելով Տոյվո Կլաարին ԵՄ հատուկ ներկայացուցչի պաշտոնին նշանակվելու կապակցությամբ, ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարը կարեւորել է ԵՄ հավասարակշռված դիրքորոշումը ԼՂ հակամարտության կարգավորման գործում եւ քաղաքական աջակցությունը ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահներին, ինչը հստակ արտահայտված է Հայաստան-Եվրոպական Միություն շրջանակային համաձայնագրում:

Տոյվո Կլաարն իր հերթին ընդգծել է ԼՂ հակամարտությունը բացառապես խաղաղ բանակցային ճանապարհով լուծելու Եվրամիության դիրքորոշումը:

Հյուրի խնդրանքով ներկայացնելով պետական սահմանին եւ արցախա-ադրբեջանական ուժերի շփման գծում տիրող իրավիճակը եւ անդրադառնալով վերջին օրերին Ադրբեջանի ռազմաքաղաքական ղեկավարության կողմից արված ռազմատենչ հայտարարություններին, նախարար Սարգսյանն ընդգծել է, որ այդպիսի վարքագիծը ոչ մի կերպ չի նպաստում խնդրի խաղաղ կարգավորմանը:

«Նման հայտարարություններ անելու համար մեծ  իմաստություն չի պահանջվում, ճիշտ հակառակը` իմաստության բացակայությունը նպաստում է սեփական ժողովրդի համար անդառնալի հետեւանքներ ունեցող սադրանքների քարոզչությանը», - նկատել է Վիգեն Սարգսյանը: ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարը եւ ԵՄ հատուկ ներկայացուցիչը կարեւորել են նման հայտարարություններին միջազգային հանրության պատշաճ արձագանքը:

Հանդիպման ընթացքում կողմերը քննարկել են նաեւ Հայաստան-Եվրամիություն համագործակցության մի շարք օրակարգային հարցեր եւ տարածաշրջանային անվտանգության խնդիրներ:
