Ազգային ժողովը քիչ առաջ քվեարկությամբ ընտրեց ՀՀ 4-րդ նախագահին: Այս մասին հայտնում է orer.am-ը: Ինչպես հայտնեց ՀՀ ԱԺ ժամանակավոր հաշվիչ հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Գագիկ Մելիքյանը ՀՀ նախագահի պաշտոնում առաջադրված միակ թեկնածուին՝ Արմեն Սարգսյանին կողմ է քվեարկել 90, դեմ՝ 10 պատգամավոր: Ըստ Մելիքյանի՝ քվեարկությանը մասնակցել է 101 պատգամավոր: «Քվեատուփում եղել է 101 քվեաթերթիկ, որոնցից անվավեր է համարվել մեկ քվեաթերթիկ: Այսպիսով, Արմեն Սարգսյանն ընտրվել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության նախագահ»,-նշեց Մելիքյանը: Արմեն Սարգսյանի կենսագրությունը Ծնվել է 1953 թվականի հունիսի 23-ին, Երևանում։ Սովորել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանի տեսական ֆիզիկայի և մաթեմատիկայի ֆակուլտետում: 1976-1984 թթ. դասավանդել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանում, հիմնադրել է ԵՊՀ տեսական ֆիզիկայի Կոմպլեքս համակարգերի համակարգչային մոդելավորման բաժինը: Դասավանդել է նաև Քեմբրիջի համալսարանում, Լոնդոնի համալսարանի Մաթեմատիկայի ինստիտուտում:

1991-1995-ին զբաղեցրել է Միացյալ Թագավորությունում ՀՀ դեսպանի պաշտոնը: 1995-1996-ին ԵՄ-ում ՀՀ Առաքելության ղեկավարն է եղել: 1996-1997-ին ստանձնել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության վարչապետի պաշտոնը: 1998-1999 թթ. վերանշանակվել է Միացյալ Թագավորությունում Հայաստանի դեսպանի պաշտոնում: 2013թ. սեպտեմբերին Արմեն Սարգսյանը երրորդ անգամ ստանձնել է Միացյալ Թագավորությունում Հայաստանի դեսպանի պաշտոնը:

2000 թվականից Eurasia House International կազմակերպության հիմնադիր նախագահն է: 2001-2011 Քեմբրիջի համալսարանի Ջաջ բիզնես դպրոցում Եվրասիական կենտրոնի հիմնադիրն ու տնօրենը: Ամենամյա Եվրասիական մեդիա ֆորումի (Astana) (2002), Քեմբրիջի համալսարանում Տարեկան ազդեցիկ կոնֆերանսի (2003) հիմնադիրն է: 2001-2013 թվականներին British Petrolium, Alcatel, Telefonica ընկերությունների գլխավոր խորհրդատուն է եղել, Բանկ օֆ Ամերիկա Մերիլ Լինչի և այլ միջազգային ընկերությունների ավագ խորհրդատու:

Պատվավոր և գործադիր պաշտոններ է զբաղեցնում մի շարք կառույցներում: Էներգետիկ անվտանգության գլոբալ խորհրդի նախագահն է (WEFForum), Արևելք-Արևմուտք ինստիտուտի (EWI) փոխնախագահը, Եվրոատլանտյան անվտանգության նախաձեռնության հանձնաժողովի համանախագահը (Էներգետիկ անվտանգության նախագահ), Բրիտանահայկական համակուսակցական խորհրդարանական խմբի հիմնադիր նախագահը, Համաշխարհային առաջնորդության հիմնադրամի (GLF) խորհրդի անդամը, Հարվարդի համալսարանի Քենեդու կառավարման դպրոցի խորհրդի անդամը, Չիկագոյի համալսարանի հանրային քաղաքականության ուսումնասիրությունների Հարրիսի դպրոցի խորհրդի անդամը, Ջոն Սմիթ Հիմնադրամի հոգաբարձու է, Միջազգային տնտեսական ալիանսի համաշխարհային առաջնորդության խորհրդի անդամ, պատվավոր ավագ հետազոտող մաթեմատիկական գիտությունների դպրոցում, Հայաստանի գիտությունների ազգային ակադեմիայի պատվավոր դոկտոր է:

Պարգևատրվել է «Սուրբ Գրիգոր Մեծ» պարգևով Հովհաննես Պողոս Երկրորդ պապից, «Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչ» մեդալ` Ամենայն Հայոց կաթողիկոս Գարեգին Երկրորդից, պարգևատրվել է նաև «Հայրենիքին մատուցած ծառայությունների համար» 1-ին աստիճանի շքանշանով: Հեղինակ է բազմաթիվ ակադեմիական հոդվածների և հրապարակումների տեսական ֆիզիկայի, աստղաֆիզիկայի, համակարգչային մոդելավորման, քաղաքագիտության և անցումային տնտեսության ոլորտներում։

Ունի արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպանի դիվանագիտական աստիճան։

Ամուսնացած է, ունի երկու որդի։
