Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Սահմանադրության համաձայն, Հայաստանի Հանրապետության նախագահը պաշտոնն ստանձնում է Ազգային ժողովի հատուկ նիստում, ժողովրդին տրված երդմամբ:

Հայաստանի Հանրապետության նախագահի պաշտոնն ստանձնելու հանդիսավոր արարողության համար Ազգային ժողովն ապրիլի 9-ին հատուկ նիստ է հրավիրել Կարեն Դեմիրճյանի անվան մարզահամերգային համալիրում։

Արդեն իսկ ձևավորված ավանդույթի համաձայն, մինչ երդմնակալությունը հանդիսավոր կերպով պատվո պահակախմբի ուղեկցությամբ դահլիճ են բերվում պետական և հոգևոր խորհրդանիշները: 

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ Նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, ապրիլի 9-ի առավոտյան ՀՀ սահմանադրական դատարանից՝ Սահմանադրության մայր օրինակը, Մատենադարանից` 7-րդ դարի Վեհամոր Ավետարանը բերվել են ՀՀ նախագահի նստավայր: 

ՀՀ պետական դրոշը և Նախագահական իշխանության խորհրդանշանը Հանրապետության նախագահի համհարզները հանձնել են պատվո պահակախմբի զինվորներին: ՀՀ Սահմանադրության մայր օրինակը ՍԴ անդամ Արևիկ Պետրոսյանին է հանձնել ՍԴ նախագահ Հրայր Թովմասյանը, իսկ Վեհամոր Ավետարանը Հովնան եպիսկոպոս Հակոբյանին է հանձնել Մատենադարանի տնօրեն Վահան Տեր-Ղևոնդյանը:

Այնուհետև ՀՀ պետական դրոշի և Նախագահական իշխանության խորհրդանշանի հետ միասին ՀՀ Սահմանադրության մայր օրինակը և Վեհամոր Ավետարանը տեղափոխվել են երդմնակալության արարողության վայր:

Նորընտիր նախագահը երդվում է` աջ ձեռքը դնելով Վեհամոր Ավետարանի և ՀՀ Սահմանադրության վրա՝ հնչեցնելով հետևյալ տեքստը. «Ստանձնելով Հանրապետության նախագահի պաշտոնը՝ երդվում եմ. հավատարիմ լինել Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Սահմանադրությանը, իմ լիազորություններն իրականացնելիս լինել անաչառ, առաջնորդվել միայն համապետական ու համազգային շահերով և իմ ողջ ուժը ներդնել ազգային միասնության ամրապնդման գործում»:
