Ինչպես «Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին ՀՀ Նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից,ուղերձում ասված է.

«Խոր ցավով տեղեկացա Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Գիտությունների Ազգային ակադեմիայի ակադեմիկոս, Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության Գիտությունների ակադեմիայի արտասահմանյան անդամ, ականավոր գիտնական, գիտության ու կրթության հմուտ կազմակերպիչ, պետական ու հասարակական անվանի գործիչ Սերգեյ Համբարձումյանի մահվան մասին:

Ակադեմիկոս Համբարձումյանի՝ հրաշալի մարդու ու քաղաքացու, մեծ գիտնականի ու մանկավարժի կերպարը թանկ ու օրինակելի է մեզ համար։ Նրա գիտական վաստակն արժանի է խոնարհման եւ հպարտությամբ է լցնում մեր սրտերը:

Անուրանալի է Սերգեյ Համբարձումյանի ավանդը հատկապես մեխանիկայի հայկական դպրոցի ստեղծման ու զարգացման, ՀԽՍՀ ԳԱ մաթեմատիկայի, ինչպես նաեւ մեխանիկայի ինստիտուտի հիմնադրման գործում։

Մեծ հարգանքի ու գնահատանքի է արժանի նրա երկարամյա մանկավարժական գործունեությունը, որը անվանի գիտնականը կատարել է պատվով ու պատասխանատվությամբ՝ տասնամյակներ շարունակ երիտասարդ սերնդին փոխանցելով հիմնարար գիտության լավագույն ավանդույթները։ Նշանակալի է նաեւ գիտության եւ գիտական հետազոտությունների կազմակերպչի նրա ավանդը, որը լավագույնս ներդրել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության գիտությունների ազգային ակադեմիայում եւ Երեւանի պետական համալսարանում աշխատելու տարիներին:

Սերգեյ Համբարձումյանը նաեւ պետական ու 
հասարակական ակնառու գործիչ է: Հանդիսանալով Խորհրդային Հայաստանի Գերագույն խորհրդի, ապա նաեւ ԽՍՀՄ Գերագույն խորհրդի պատգամավոր եւ նախագահության անդամ, նա մշտապես հայ մտավորականին վայել արժանապատվությամբ ու նվիրումով անզիջում պաշտպանել է Հայաստանի ազգային շահերը, հատկապես՝ Արցախի հարցում:

Խորին ցավակցություն եմ հայտնում Սերգեյ Համբարձումյանի ընտանիքին, հարազատներին, գործընկերներին։ 

Ճանաչված պետական գործչի, գիտնականի ու քաղաքացու ազնիվ եւ պայծառ կերպարը միշտ վառ կմնա սերունդների հիշողության մեջ»։
