Վենեսուելայի նախագահ Նիկոլաս Մադուրոն հայտարարել է, որ Կոլումբիայի նախկին նախագահ Խուան Մանուել Սանտոսը հրահանգել է օգոստոսի 4-ին իր դեմ մահափորձ իրականացնել: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, վկայակոչելով ռուսական ՏԱՍՍ գործակալությունը, այդ մասին Վենեսուելայի նախագահը հայտարարել է երկրի պետական հեռուստատեսության եթերում, գրում է ТАСС-ը:

«Իմ քաղաքական և ֆիզիկական սպանությունը նախապատրաստվել է Կասա դե Նարինյոյում (նախագահական պալատում)՝ Բոգոտայում: Դա Խուան Մանուել Սանտոսն է եղել, ով վենեսուելական աջ թևի ընդդիմադիր քաղաքական գործիչների օգնությամբ հրահանգել է ինձ սպանել: Ոչ մի կասկած չունեմ դրա վերաբերյալ»,- հայտարարել է Մադուրոն:

Նրա կարծիքով՝ Կոլումբիայի նախկին ղեկավարը գործել է Վենեսուելայի խորհրդարանի ընդդիմադիր անդամ Խուլիո Բորխեսի հետ համատեղ, ով «ստանում է հրահանգները, ռեսուրսները, նյութատեխնիկական ապահովումը, աջակցությունը և ծրագիրը»:

 Մադուրոն ընդգծել  է, որ իր դեմ մահափորձի մի քանի մասնակիցներ փորձել են թաքնվել Պերուում: «Մենք գիտենք, որ այդ ահաբեկիչների մի մասը մեկնել է Պերու՝ այնտեղ թաքնվելու կամ պաշտպանություն ստանալու համար: Ես կոչ եմ անում Պերուի իշխանություններին բռնել այդ ահաբեկիչներին և փոխանցել նրանց Վենեսուելայի իշխանություններին՝ միջազգային օրենքի համաձայն»,- ասել է Մադուրոն

Նա հայտնել է, որ արդեն հրահանգել է երկրի արտգործնախարարին համապատասխան դիմումն ուղարկել Պերուի իշխանություններին:
