ԱՄՆ հակառուսական պատժամիջոցների համար Ղրիմի հետ կապված իրավիճակը ոչ թե պատճառ է, այլ միայն առիթ: Այս մասին կիրակի Բելգրադում լրագրողներին ասել է ՌԴ ԱԳՆ պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչ Մարիա Զախարովան, փոխանցում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:

«Ինչ վերաբերում է հակառուսական պատժամիջոցների նոր գալարին, ապա մենք արդեն հայտարարել ենք, որ կմշակվեն պատասխան պատժամիջոցներ: Սա մեր ընտրությունը չէ, մենք չեն հրահրել պատժամիջոցային պատերազմը, մենք մշտապես հիմք ենք ընդունել այն, որ միակողմանի պատժամիջոցներն ապօրինի են, սակայն պատասխան միջոցառումներ կմշակվեն: Այն թեզը, որն Արեւմուտքում շատերն են բարձրաձայնել, թե պատժամիջոցները սահմանվում են Ղրիմի պատճառով, տեսնում ենք, որ բացարձակապես ճշմարտացի չէ, տեսեք, թե ԱՄՆ-ն Թուրքիայի, Չինաստանի, Իրանի, նաեւ Եվրամիության նկատմամբ ինչ ագրեսիվ քաղաքականություն է վարում, այդ թվում՝ պատժամիջոցային ճնշման տարրերով, իսկական առեւտրային պատերազմներ: Ուստի բոլոր պատմությունները, թե ամեն ինչ սկսվել է Ղրիմից, ճիշտ չեն, առիթ էր պետք, առիթը գտնվեց»,- հայտարարել է Զախարովան:

ԱՄՆ վարչակազմը չորեքշաբթի հայտարարել էր Ռուսաստանի դեմ նոր ծավալուն պատժամիջոցների սահմանման մտադրության մասին: Մոսկվայի դեմ Վաշինգթոնի կողմից նոր սահմանափակման միջոցառումների սահմանման համար առիթ էին դարձել Մեծ Բրիտանիայում մարտին ՀԳՎ նախկին գնդապետ Սերգեյ Սկրիպալի եւ նրա դուստր Յուլյայի թունավորումը:

Վաշինգթոնը արգելք է սահմանում Ռուսաստանի երկակի նշանակության արտադրանքի մատակարարումների վրա: Ընդ որում՝ օրենքը նախատեսում է գրեթե 3 ամիս հետո ավելի խիստ պատժամիջոցների սահմանման սպառնալիք: Սահմանափակումների երկրորդ մասով նախատեսվում է  երկկողմ դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունների մակարդակի նվազեցում կամ նույնիսկ լիակատար կասեցում, փաստացի Ռուսաստան ամերիկյան ապանքների ցանկացած արտահանման՝ բացառությամբ պարենամթերքի, ինչպես նաեւ Միացյալ Նահանգների կողմից ռուսական ապրանքների, ներառյալ նավթի ու նավթամթերքի ներմուծման ամբողջական արգելք, ԱՄՆ-ում ցանկացած ավիաընկերության օդանավերի վայրէջքի իրավունքից զրկում, որոնք վերահսկվում են Ռուսաստանի կառավարության կողմից, Վաշինգթոնի կողմից Մոսկվայում միջազգային ֆինանսական կազմակերպությունների գծով վարկերի արգելափակում:
