1887 թվականին լույս աշխարհ եկած Վայոլեթ Ջեսոփի մանկությանը ծանոթանալուց հետո արդեն կարելի է հասկանալ, որ նա հաջողակ աստղի տակ է ծնվել։ Նրա ծնողներն ինը երեխա են ունեցել, որոնցից միայն վեցը ողջ մնացին մանուկ հասակում։ Փոքր ժամանակ Վայոլեթն անգամ տուբերկուլյոզով հիվանդացավ, ու թեև բժիշկները նրա մոտալուտ մահն էին կանխատեսում, աղջնակը փրկվեց։

Այն, ինչի շնորհիվ Վայոլեթը մինչ օրս մնացել է պատմության էջերում, նրա անբնական կարողությունն է փրկվել ցանկացած աղետի ժամանակ։ Վայոլեթը ոչ միայն փրկվել է հայտնի Տիտանիկ նավից, այլ նաև Օլիմպիկ և Բրիտանիկ նավերից։

1910 թվականին Վայոլեթը Օլիմպիկ նավի վրա սկսեց աշխատել որպես բորտուղեկցորդուհի։ Օլիմպիկը լյուքս դասի նավ էր՝ այդ ժամանակվա ամենամեծ քաղաքացիական նավը։ 1911-ին Օլիմպիկը սկսեց իր նավարկությունն ու սխալ մանրևի պատճառով բախվեց բրիտանական Հոուք նավին։ Բարեբախտաբար, զոհեր չեղան, իսկ նավը վնասված վիճակում կարողացավ հասնել մոտակա ափ։

Որոշ ժամանակ անց Վայոլեթ Ջեսոփն աշխատանքի անցավ մեկ այլ ընկերությունում և սկսեց Տիտանիկի վրա ծառայել որպես բորտուղեկցորդուհի։ Իր հուշերում նա պատմում է, որ իրեն հրամայել են հանգիստ, առանց խուճապի ոչ անգլախոս ուղևորներին բացատրել, թե ինչպես պետք է օգտվել մակույկներից ու անվնաս դուրս գալ սուզվող Տիտանիկից։ Միայն վերջում Ջեսոփն ու իր կոլեգաները ևս նստել էին մակույկի մեջ ու դրանում մեկ գիշեր անցկացնելուց հետո փրկվել օգնության եկած մարդկանց կողմից։

Թվում է՝ այսքանը բավական է, որ քեզ անվանեն հաջողակ մարդ, բայց պարզվում է՝ Վայոլեթի դեպքում ամենևին էլ բավական չէ։ Այս աղետներից հրաշքով փրկվելուց հետո նա զարմանալիորեն շարունակեց աշխատել նավերի վրա։ 1916 թվականին էր Վայոլեթը բորտուղեկցորդուհի էր Բրիտանիկ նավի վրա։ Նույն թվականի նոյեմբերի 21-ի առավոտյան Բրիտանիկը անհայտ պայթյունի պատճառով սուզվեց Էգեյան ծովի մեջ։ Նավի խորտակումը ընդհանուր առմամբ 57 րոպե էր տևել։ Աղետի պատճառով 30 մարդ զոհվեց, իսկ Վայոլեթը կրկին հրաշքով փրկվեց, թեև նա էլ մահվան եզրին էր։

«Կառամատույցի վրայի բոլոր առարկաներն այնպես թափվեցին ծովի մեջ, որ կարծես երեխայի խաղալիքներ լինեին։ Հետո մի վերջնական մռնչոց եղավ, և նա (նավը) անհետացավ ծովի խորքում»,- այսպես է նկարագրել Վայոլեթը Բրիտանիկի խորտակումը։

Ահա թե ինչու են Վայոլեթ Ջեսոփին համարում աշխարհի ամենահաջողակ մարդկանցից մեկը։ Նրան անգամ կատակով կոչում են «տիկին Փրկվող»։
