 ՀՀ ոստիկանությունը մանրամասներ է հայտնել Կարո Կարապետյանի սպանության և Հարություն Ղարագյոզյանի ինքնասպանության մասին:

 

«Հոկտեմբերի 6-ին, ժամը 22-ն անց 40-ի սահմաններում, ոստիկանության Կենտրոնական բաժին ահազանգ է ստացվել, որ Նորք Մարաշի Արմենակյան փողոցում գտնվող հացատներից մեկում կրակոցներ են հնչել։ Րոպեներ անց ոստիկանության Կենտրոնական բաժին ահազանգեր են հնչել նաև Երևանի տարբեր բժշկական կենտրոններից։ Հայտնում էին, որ իրենց մոտ բուժօգնության են տեղափոխվել հրազենային վիրավորումով երկու տղամարդ։ Հոսպիտալացված տղամարդկանցից մեկը` Կարո Կարապետյանը, մահացել է։ Դեպքի վայրում հայտնաբերվել են պարկուճներ և ատրճանակ։ Ձեռնարկված օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումների և քննչական գործողությունների արդյունքում պարզվել է հանցագործությունը կատարելու մեջ կասկածվող անձի ինքնությունը։ Պարզվել է նաև, որ դեպքի վայրում հայտնաբերված «Պիետրո-Բերետտա» ատրճանակը պատկանում է Հարություն Ղարագյոզյանին։ Վերջինս նշված ատրճանակով պարգևատրվել է ՀՀ վարչապետի որոշումով՝ 2001 թվականի մարտի 22-ին։ 
Դեպքի հաջորդ օրը՝ հոկտեմբերի 7-ին, Զովունիում գտնվող շինություններից մեկում հայտնաբերվել է Հարություն Ղարագյոզյանի դին՝ գլխին հրազենային վնասվածքով։ Մահացածի աջ ձեռքում եղել է ատրճանակ։ Նախնական տվյալներով՝ Հարություն Ղարագյոզյանն ինքնասպանություն է գործել։
