Հետխորհրդային տարածքի, այդ թվում և Հարավային Կովկասի խորհրդանշական դերը Ռուսաստանի համար սովորաբար թերագնահատվում է՝ հօգուտ վերջինիս անվտանգության և տնտեսական շահերի։ Մինչդեռ, ԽՍՀՄ փլուզումից հետո ռուսական ինքնության փնտրտուքը, ինչպես նաև Սովետական միության և Ցարական կայսրության վաղեմի հզորությունը վերագտնելու ցանկությունը նույնքան որոշիչ դեր ունեն ռուսական աշխարհաքաղաքական որոշումների ընդունման վրա, որքան և հզոր տնտեսության և անվտանգ երկրի հրամայականները։

ԽՍՀՄ փլուզումից և անկախության հռչակումից հետո Հայաստանը միշտ էլ փորձել է, հնարավորության սահմաններում, հավասարակշռել տնտեսական, քաղաքական և ռազմական հարաբերությունները Ռուսաստանի, եվրոպական երկրների, ԱՄՆ և Իրանի միջև։

Վերջին հինգ տարիները Հայաստանի համար նշանավորվեցին ներքին քաղաքական և արտաքին աշխարհաքաղաքական մի շարք փոփոխություններով։ Այս ֆոնին շատ կարևոր է ընդգծենք Հայաստանի և իր ավանդական ռազմավարական դաշնակից Ռուսաստանի հարաբերությունները: Այս համատեքստում կարևոր է նշել Գագիկ Ծառուկյանի դերակատարությունը, ով իր բիզնես հնարավորություններով և քաղաքական գործունեությամբ էականորեն խորացրել է այդ կապը:

Տասը տարի առաջ ԲՀԿ-ն և «Եդինայա Ռոսիա»-ն պայմանագիր ստորագրեցին, որի շնորհիվ այս քաղաքական ուժերի միջխորհրդարանական, միջկուսակցական հարաբերությունները զարգացման նոր հունի մեջ մտան։ Պայմանագիրը ստորագիրվել է՝ ռազմական, տնտեսական, երիտասարդների կյանքի բարելավման հետ կապված, ինչը վստահաբար կարելի է փաստել, որ իսկապես արդյունավետ է ստացվել: Այս քաղաքական ուժերն իրենց քայլերով կատարել են լուրջ ներդրում երկու պետությունների քաղաքա- տնտեսական հարաբերությունների ամրապնդման գործում: Այս տարիների ընթացքում և ԲՀԿ-ի և «Եդինայա Ռոսիա»-ի ներկայացուցիչներն ունեցել են բազմաթիվ հանդիպումներ և ամրագրել համագործակցության կապը:

Նոյեմբրի 22-ի ԲՀԿ ղեկավար Գագիկ Ծառուկյանն աշխատանքային այցով Մոսկվայում էր, որտեղ մանրակրկիտ և հանգամանլից վերահաստատվեցին գործընկեր կուսակցություններին աջակցությունն ու հայ-ռուսական դարավոր բարեկամության փաստումը: Ծառուկյանը հանդիպել է «Եդինայա Ռոսիա»-ի և խորհրդարանական խմբակցության ղեկավար կազմի: Կողմերը վստահեցրել են, որ «Եդինայա Ռոսիա»-ի և ԲՀԿ-ի հարաբերությունները և համագործակցությունը կշարունակեն զարգանալ։

Ռուս-հայկական հարաբերությունների յուրահատուկ ոլորտի է տնտեսական համագործացույթունը ԵՏՄ շրջանակներում, ինչպես նաև ՀԱՊԿ-ում կողմերի դաշնային գործունությունը: Այս առումով երկու քաղաքական կառույցները վերահաստատեցին համագործակցության կարևորությունը:
