GDI Foundation ոչ առեւտրային կազմակերպության կիբերանվտանգության փորձագետ Վիկտոր Գեւերսը հայտնաբերել է բոլորին հասանելի տվյալների բազա, որում չինական իշխանությունները հավաքագրում էին Սինցզյան-Ույղուրական ինքնավար շրջանի շուրջ 2.6 մլն բնակիչների անձնական տվյալները, հաղորդում է ՌԲԿ-ը՝ հղում կատարելով Financial Times-ին:

Իրական ժամանակի ռեժիմում բազայում ավելանում էին լուսանկարներն ու գտնվելու վայրի մասին տեղեկությունները, անունները, նույնականացման համարները, բնակության հասցեները, գործատուի տվյալները: Գեւերսը ենթադրում է, որ տվյալների աղբյուրը տեսախցիկներն էին՝ դեմքերը ճանաչելու համակարգով: Նրա խոսքերով՝ միայն մեկ օրվա ընթացքում հավաքագրվել էին շուրջ 6.7 մլն GPS-կոորդինատներ: Բազայում հայտնված մարդկանց մեծ մասը ույղուրներ են:

Բացի Սինցզյան-Ույղուրական ինքնավար շրջանում ընդհանուր հսկողության համակարգերից, չինական իշխանությունները կազմակերպել էին այնտեղ մեծաթիվ ճամբարներ: Այդ մասին 2018 թվականի օգոստոսին՝ ՄԱԿ-ի Մարդու իրավունքների գերագույն հանձնակատարի վարչության նիստի ժամանակ, հայտարարել է ՄԱԿ-ի Ռասայական  խտրականության վերացման դեմ հանձնաժողովի անդամ Գեյ Մաքդուգալը: Նրա խոսքերով՝ Չինաստանում ավելի քան 1 մլն էթնիկ ույղուրներ են պահվում վայրերում, որոնք հիշեցնում են «ներկալյալների համար հսկայական ճամբար, որոնց մասին տեղեկատվությունը գաղտնի է պահվում»:
