Իրականում այդպես չէ:

Տիեզերք թռած առաջին կենդանին եղել է դրոզոֆիլ ճանճը: 1946 թվականին ամերիկյան V2 հրթիռով մի քանի դրոզոֆիլ ճանճեր ուղարկվեցին տիեզերք: Նպատակն այն էր, որ փորձարկեն մեծ բարձրությունների և ռադիացիայի ազդեցությունը կենդանի օրգանիզմների վրա: Ճանճերը հետ վերադարձան անվնաս: Ընդհանրապես, դրոզոֆիլ ճանճերը լաբորատորիաների սիրելիներն են: Ինչպես և մարդիկ, նրանք գիշերը քնում են, ենթարկվում են անզգայացման, արագ բազմանում են, և շատ հարմար է նրանց վրա փորձեր անել: Մարդկանց հայտնի հիվանդությունների երեք քառորդի գեները համապատասխանություններ ունեն դրոզոֆիլ ճանճի գենետիկ կոդի հետ: Բնական է, որ նա առաջինը պետք է լիներ տիեզերքում:

Իսկ ռուսներին դուր էր գալիս շների հետ աշխատել: Р-1В հրթիռով 1951 թվականին առաջին անգամ նրանք տիեզերք ուղարկեցին Ցիգան և Դեզիկ անունով շներին: Թռիչքը տևեց 20 րոպե, շուն-տիեզերագնացները հաջողությամբ երկիր վերադարձան, նրանց մոտ ոչ մի ֆիզոլոգիական շեղում չարձանագրվեց: Իհարկե, տիեզերք հասած շներից ամենահայտնին Լայկան է: Հարցն այն է, որ նա առաջին կենդանին է, որ տիեզերք է հասել և ապա պտտվել Երկիր մոլորակի շուրջը: Դա եղել է 1957 թվականին Спутник-2 տիեզերանավով: Սա մեծ հաջողություն էր: Ցավալիորեն, Լայկայի վերադարձ Երկիր չէր պլանավորվում և չէր նախատեսվում, չնայած պաշտոնական քարոզչությամբ ասվել էր, որ Լայկան վերադարձել է, ապա 7 օր անց նրան քնեցրել՝ սպանել են: Իրականում թռիչքից 5-7 ժամ անց կապսուլայի ջերմաստիճանը բարձրացավ 40 աստիճանից, և շունը սատկեց գերտաքացումից և սթրեսից: Իսկ ահա առաջին շները, որոնք տիեզերք են հասել, պտտվել Երկրի շուրջ, ապա վերադարձել, եղել են հանրահայտ Բելկան և Ստրելկան: Դա եղել է 1960 թվականին՝ մարդ- տիեզերագնացի թռիչքից մեկ տարի առաջ:

Կատուները ևս անմասն չեն մնացել տիեզերքից: Երևում է՝ այս կենդանիներին էլ ֆրանսիացիներն են սիրում: Նրանք 1963 թվականին տիեզերք են ուղարկել Ֆելիսետտ անունով կատվին, որը հաջողությամբ հետ է վերադարձել Երկիր:

1968 թվականին ԽՍՀՄ-ը տիեզերք է ուղարկել կրիայի: Այդ կրիան առաջին կենդանին է, որ շրջանցել է նաև Լուսինն ու հաջողությամբ հետ վերադարձել:

2003 թվականին ամերիկյան «Կոլումբիա» տիեզերանավի վթարի ժամանակ միակ կենդանի մնացած արարածներն էին մի քանի կլոր նեմատոդ որդեր, որոնց գտան տիեզերանավի լաբորատոր հատվածի մնացորդների մեջ:

2007 թվականին Ֆոտոն М-3 տիեզերական սարքով ռուսների՝ տիեզերք ուղարկված Նադեժդա անունով ուտիճը դարձավ առաջին կենդանի արարածը, որը բեղմնավորվեց և սերունդ տվեց տիեզերքում: Հաջողությամբ Երկիր վերադառնալուց հետո Նադեժդան ևս 33 անգամ սերունդ տվեց:
