Միացյալ Նահանգներում Սաուդյան Արաբիայի դեսպան, արքայադուստր Ռիմա բինտ Բանդար Ալ-Սաուդը հանդիպում է ունեցել ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսական, հայանպաստ գործիչ Ադամ Շիֆի հետ և մեղադրել Թուրքիային Հայոց ցեղասպանության իրականացման գործում: Այս մասին հայտնում է կոնգրեսական Շիֆի պաշտոնական կայքը:

Հանդիպումը, որը կայացել է ապրիլի 26-ին Վաշինգտոնում, տևել է երկու ժամ. երկկողմ հարցերից ու Կալիֆորնիայում Սաուդյան Արաբիայի ներդրումներից զատ, քննարկվել է նաև Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման բանաձևի նախագիծը: 

Արքայադուստր Ռիմա բինտ Բանդար Ալ-Սաուդն ասել է. «Սաուդյան Արաբիան նույնպես Օսմանյան կայսրության ժամանակ խիստ ճնշման տակ է եղել, եւ Օսմանյան դարաշրջանում մեր պատմության մեջ որեւէ հաճելի հիշողություն չի մնացել: Թուրքիան Հայոց ցեղասպանության հիմնական մեղադրյալն է և չի կարող մտահոգություններ հայտնել մարդու իրավունքների և քաղաքացիական ազատությունների պաշտպանության թեմայով, քանի դեռ ճշմարտությունը չի բացահայտվել»:

Դեսպանը խոստացել է ֆինանսավորել բանաձևի ընդունման համար տարվող լոբբիստական աշխատանքը: Նա նաև նշել է, որ Թուրքիայի քաղաքականությունը վերջին տարիներին միշտ եղել է Ռիադի համար մտահոգության աղբյուր:

ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի անդամ Ադամ Շիֆը (Դեմոկրատական կուսակցություն) և Գաս Բիլիրակիսը (Հանրապետական կուսակցություն) ներկայացրել են  Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչմանն ուղղված բանաձև, որը երկկուսակցական օրենսդրական նախագիծ է` նպատակաուղղված ԱՄՆ-ի համապատասխան քաղաքականությանը: Նախագիծը սահմանում է Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտման մերժում, ԱՄՆ կառավարության կողմից այս հանցանքի պաշտոնական ճանաչում և ոգեկոչում, ժամանակակից աշխարհում նման հանցանքները կանխելու նպատակով Հայոց ցեղասպանության թեմայի վերաբերյալ ուսուցում կազմակերպելու կարևորության գիտակցում:

Այնուամենայնիվ, Ադամ Շիֆի կայքը հաղորդագրության մեջ եզրահանգում է կատարում, որ արքայադուստր Ռիմա բինտ Բանդար Ալ-Սաուդի հնչեցրած մտքերը Էր Ռիադի դիվանագիտական արձագանքն է Թուրքիայում արաբ լրագրող Ջամալ Խաշոգիի սպանությանը հաջորդած իրադարձություններին և հանդիպումն ուղերձ էր Անկարային:
