Դեմոկրատական կուսակցությունից նախագահի թեկնածու էլիզաբեթ Ուորենին խիստ մտահոգում է Իրանի հետ հնարավոր պատերազմը: Նա ընդգծել է, որ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը պետք է գնա Կոնգրես թույլտվություն ստանալու համար նախքան Իրանի դեմ ռազմական գործողություններ ձեռնարկելը, հաղորդում է  FoxNews-ը:

Նա նշել է, որ ցանկանում է տեսնել Օմանի ծոցում լցանավերի վրա հարձակումների վերաբերյալ Իրանի մասնակցության ապացույցները, որոնց մասին խոսում է Թարմփի վարչակազմը:

«Ես ցանկանում եմ հիշեցնել այդ վարչակազմին, որ նա չի կարող պատերազմ հայտարարել ինքնուրույնաբար. դրա համար անհրաժեշտ է Կոնգրեսի հաստատումը: Դա քաղաքականություն չէ, դա Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգների Սահմանադրության հոդված է»,-ասել է նա:

«Խնդրի մի մասը, որը մենք ստացել ենք այս պահին, կայանում է նրանում, որ նախագահը հրաժարվել է միջուկային համաձայնագրից՝ չունենալով այլընտրանքային ռազմավարություն»,-նշել է նա: Սենատորի խոսքով՝ Թրամփը հակասական էր, երբ խոսքը վերաբերում էր Իրանի նկատմամբ նախագահի դիրքորոշումներին:

«Նա շարունակում էր «հրել» Իրանին, այնուհետեւ հետ նահանջել: Որոշակի պահի մենք լսեցինք զորքերի ավելացման մասին հայտարարությունը, սակայն դա տեղի չունեցավ»,-պարզաբանել է նա: «Անհնար է ասել, թե ինչ նկատի ունի նախագահը, եւ եթե մենք չենք կարող ասել դա այստեղ՝ Միացյալ Նահանգներում, նշանակում է, որ մեր Կոնգրեսը չի կարող կատարել իր սահմանադրական գործառույթը: Սակայն դա նաեւ նշանակում է, որ իրանցիներին, ինչպես նաեւ մնացած ամբողջ աշխարհին եւս դժվար է դա հասկանալ»:
