Հոկտեմբերի 17-ին Նյու Յորքում ՄԱԿ Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի նիստի ընթացքում կայացած ընտրությունների արդյունքում Հայաստանն ընտրվեց Մարդու իրավունքների խորհրդի (ՄԻԽ) անդամ 2020-2022 թթ․ ժամանակահատվածի համար։

 

Արևելաեվրոպական երկրների տարածաշրջանային խմբին ՄԻԽ ընտրություններում հատկացված երկու թափուր տեղերի համար ներկայացված էին երեք երկրների՝ Հայաստանի, Լեհաստանի և Մոլդովայի թեկնածությունները:

Փակ գաղտնի քվեարկության արդյունքում Հայաստանը, ստանալով 144 ձայն, ընտրվեց առաջին փուլով (Լեհաստան` 124, Մոլդովա` 103 ձայն)։ Ընտրվելու համար անհրաժեշտ էր ստանալ անդամ երկրների մեծամասնության քվեն, այն է՝ 97 ձայն։

Ձայների գերակշիռ մեծամասնությամբ ընտրությունը վկայում է միջազգային հանրության կողմից Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունում ժողովրդավարական վերափոխումների և մարդու իրավունքների և հիմնարար ազատությունների պաշտպանության ու խրախուսման ոլորտում գրանցված նշանակալի առաջընթացի ճանաչման մասին։

Հայաստանը Մարդու իրավունքների խորհրդին անդամակցում է առաջին անգամ։ ՄԻԽ-ին իր անդամակցության շրջանակներում Հայաստանը ջանքեր է գործադրելու իր հանձնառություններն և առաջնայնություններն իրականացնելու ուղղությամբ, մասնավորապես՝ ուղղված ցեղասպանության և զանգվածային ոճրագործությունների կանխարգելմանը, էթնիկ ու կրոնական խմբերին թիրախավորող այլատյացության հողի վրա հանցանքների դեմ պայքարին, կանանց և երիտասարդության իրավունքների պաշտապանությանը, խաղաղ և ներառական հասարակությունների կայացմանը։

Տեղեկանք․Մարդու իրավունքների խորհուրդը ստեղծվել է 2006 թ․, հանդիսանում է ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի օժանդակ միջկառավարական մարմին, բաղկացած է ՄԱԿ անդամ 47 երկրներից։ Այն զբաղվում է աշխարհում մարդու իրավունքների առաջմղման և պաշտպանության հարցերով, մարդու իրավունքների խախտումների հասցեագրմամբ ու դրանց վերաբերյալ համապատասխան խորհրդատվություններ անելով։ ՄԻԽ կենտրոնակայանը գտնվում է Ժնևում։
