«Գահերի խաղը» սերիալի ստեղծողները՝ Դեւիդ Բենիոֆը եւ Դեն Ուայսը, հրաժարվել են նոր ֆիլմ նկարահանել «Աստղային պատերազմներ» եռերգությունից: Ինչպես հայտնել Է Deadline-ը, նրանք դա պատճառաբանել են լարված գրաֆիկով:

«Մենք զգացինք, որ չենք կարող բավարար ուշադրություն դարձնել ո՛չ «Աստղային պատերազմներին», ո՛չ Netflix-ի նախագծերին: Ուստի մենք մեծ ափսոսանքով թողնում ենք նախագիծը»,-հայտնել են Բենիոֆը եւ Ուայսը:

Lucasfilm կինոստուդիայի նախագահ Քեթլին Քենեդին իր հերթին նշել Է, որ ընկերությունում հույս ունեն համագործակցել «Գահերի խաղի» ստեղծողների հետ, երբ որ նրանք կկարողանան ժամանակ գտնել «Աստղային պատերազմների» համար: Disney-ն «Աստղային պատերազմների» կինոաշխարհի նկատմամբ իրավունքներն ստացել Է 2012 թվականի հոկտեմբերին Lucasfilm կինոստուդիան գնելու հետ միասին:

2019 թվականի մայիսի սկզբին ընկերությունը ներկայացրել Է թողարկման պլանավորվող ֆիլմերի ցուցակը, ներառյալ «Աստղային պատերազմների» երեք նոր Էպիզոդները, որոնք պետք Է հայտնվեն 2022, 2024 եւ 2026 թվականներին: Այն ժամանակ տեղեկացվել Էր, որ եռերգության առաջին մասը կնկարահանեն Բենիոֆը եւ Ուայսը, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
