ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Յենս Ստոլտենբերգն արձագանքել է Հյուսիսատլանտյան դաշինքից Թուրքիային հանելու կոչերին, հայտնում է «ՌԻԱ Նովոստի»-ն:

Նա հայտարարել է, որ «ի տարբերություն ԵՄ-ի՝ ՆԱՏՕ-ն չունի անդամներից մեկի դեմ միջոցներ ընդունելու մեխանիզմներ, ...դաշնակիցները կարծիքներ են փոխանակում հրապարակայնորեն եւ անկեղծորեն»: Դրանից բացի, Ստոլտենբերգը նշել է, որ Անկարան «վճռական դերակատարում է ունեցել Սիրիայում, այսպես կոչված, խալիֆաթի ոչնչացման գործում»:

Նրա կարծիքով՝ «Իսլամական պետության» դեմ պայքարը պետք է շարունակվի, չի կարելի թույլ տալ, որ բռնված զինյալներն ազատության մեջ հայտնվեն:

«Ալ Բաղդադիի (ԻՊ պարագլուխ) մահը չի նշանակում «Իսլամական պետության» վերջը, ...մինչեւ վերջին ժամանակները խմբավորումն Իրաքում եւ Սիրիայում վերահսկում էր ահռելի տարածքներ: Մենք ազատագրել ենք այդ տարածաշրջանը, բայց ԻՊ-ն պարտված չէ: ...Այս տարածաշրջանը վերահսկող բոլոր ուժերը պետք է վերահսկեն նաեւ ԻՊ ահաբեկիչներին. կարեւոր չէ՝ այդ ուժերը դուր են գալիս, թե ոչ»,- հավելել է ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարը:

Ստոլտենբերգը նաեւ ընդգծել է կոնֆլիկտը կարգավորելու նոր մեթոդներ որոնելու անհրաժեշտությունը, չնայած «Սիրիայի հյուսիսի ճակատագրի մասին» Թուրքիայի եւ Ռուսաստանի միջեւ արդեն գոյություն ունեցող պայմանավորվածություններին: Նա, մասնավորապես, ողջունել է Գերմանիայի պաշտպանության նախարար Աննեգրեթ Կրամպ-Կարենբաուերի առաջարկը սիրիա-թուրքական սահմանին ՄԱԿ հովանու ներքո անվտանգության գոտի ստեղծելու մասին:

«Երբեք ուշ չէ ավելի լավ շրջանակային պայմաններ գտնելու համար, որոնք արդյունքում կհանգեցնեն քաղաքական լուծման՝ հատկապես Սիրիայում: Այնքան էլ հեշտ չէ Սիրիա նոր զորքեր ուղարկելու թույլտվություն ստանալը: Ուստի դեռեւս անչափ վաղ է խոսել այն մասին՝ կարո՞ղ է արդյոք այդ առաջարկը կյանքի կոչվել»,- հայտարարել է ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարը:

Ֆրանսիական «Ազգային միավորում» կուսակցության առաջնորդ Մարին Լը Պենը հոկտեմբերի 20-ին առաջարկել էր Թուրքիային ՆԱՏՕ-ից հանել: Քաղաքական գործիչը ԵՄ-ին քննադատել էր, որ «ոչ մի բան չի անում եւ ոչ մի բան չի առաջարկում»՝ ի պատասխան Սիրիայի հյուսիսում Անկարայի գոծողության: Լը Պենի խոսքով՝ Թուրքիան իր ռազմական գործողություններով «խախտել է դաշինքում մնալու չափանիշները»:
