Սյունիքի մարզի Կապան քաղաքն ընտրվել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության 2020 թվականի երիտասարդական մայրաքաղաք:

ՀՀ կրթության, գիտության, մշակույթի և սպորտի նախարարությունը 2020 թվականին Կապանում կիրականացնի տեղական և միջազգային երիտասարդական ծրագրեր` դրանցում ներգրավելով համայնքի և մարզի երիտասարդներին ու երիտասարդական կազմակերպությունները:

2020 թվականի երիտասարդական մայրաքաղաքի կոչման համար հայտ էին ներկայացրել Արմավիր, Կապան, Հրազդան, Գավառ և Գորիս քաղաքները: Հաղթողը որոշվել է կարճ հաղորդագրությամբ (sms) քվեարկության և հայտերի փորձագիտական գնահատման միջոցով` տեղում ուսումնասիրությունների արդյունքում:

ՀՀ կրթության, գիտության, մշակույթի և սպորտի նախարարի տեղակալ Գևորգ Լոռեցյանի խոսքով`  կարճ քվեարկությամբ ամենաշատ ձայները ստացել էր Հրազդան քաղաքը, երկրորդ տեղում Կապանն էր:

«Քվեարկության արդյունքները համադրելով փորձագետների կողմից տրված գնահատականների հետ որոշվեց 2020 թվականի Հայաստանի երիտասարդական մայրաքաղաք ճանաչել Կապանը: Սա նշանակում է, որ Կապանը լինելու է երիտասարդական միջոցառումների կիզակենտրոնը, այնտեղ իրականացվելու են երիտասարդական բազմաթիվ ծրագրեր»,- ասաց Լոռեցյանը:

Նոյեմբերի 5-25-ը ակտիվ է եղել քվեարկությունը, իսկ նոյեմբերի 15-ից մրցույթի կազմկոմիտեն և փորձագետներն այցելել են հայտատու քաղաքների մարզական, մշակութային, ժամանցի և այլ հաստատություններ, ծանոթացել տեղի երիտասարդության և երիտասարդական կազմակերպությունների հետ:

Տարվա երիտասարդական մայրաքաղաք մրցույթի անցկացմամբ ՀՀ ԿԳՄՍ նախարարությունը նպատակ ունի նպաստել հանրապետության համայնքների համաչափ զարգացմանը, խթանել երիտասարդական նախաձեռնողականության, երիտասարդական քաղաքականության ոլորտում համայնքների միջև բարեխիղճ և գործընկերային հարաբերությունները` ինչպես տեղական և հանրապետական, այնպես էլ միջազգային մակարդակում, խրախուսել համայնքային իշխանություններին՝ տեղական մակարդակում մշակելու արդյունավետ երիտասարդական քաղաքականություն, աջակցելու մարզերում երիտասարդական կազմակերպությունների և ենթակառույցների առաջխաղացմանը:
