Կինոյի միջազգային օրը կինեմատոգրաֆների, ինչպես նաեւ այդ զարմանալի արվեստի՝ կինոյի բոլոր սիրահարների տոնն է:

1895 թվականի դեկտեմբերի 28-ին փարիզյան «Գրանդ կաֆե»-ում ցուցադրվել է Լյումիեր եղբայրների սինեմատոգրաֆիայի առաջին սեանսը:

Նույն թվականին ֆրանսիացի Օգյուստ եւ Լուի Լյումիեր եղբայրներն իրենց հայտնագործած «Սինեմատոգրաֆ» սարքի պատենտն էին ստացել: 1985 թվականի մարտի 22-ին նրանք Փարիզում ընկերների նեղ շրջանակի համար ցուցադրում են կարճատեւ ժապավեն՝ «Բանվորների ելքը Լյումիեր գործարանից» անվանումով:

Սակայն կինոյի ծննդյան օրը համարում են դեկտեմբերի 28-ը, երբ փարիզյան սրճարանում ֆրանսիացի եղբայրներն արդեն հանրության լայն շրջանակի համար ցուցադրում են «Գնացքի ժամանումը Լա Սյոտա կայարան» կարճամետրաժ ֆիլմը: Սա պատմության մեջ առաջին ֆիլմն է, որը հանդիսատեսին ցուցադրվել է փողով:

«Բանվորների ելքը Լյումիեր գործարան» իրական խուճապ է առաջացրել հանդիսատեսի մոտ. նրանք սկսել են տեղից ցատկել եւ փախչել են դահլիճից՝ վախենալով, որ էկրանին մոտեցող գնացքը կտապալի նրանց:
