ԱՄՆ Պետդեպարտամենտը պատժամիջոցներ է մտցրել Կուբայի պաշտպանության նախարար Լեոպոլդո Սինտրու Ֆրիասի դեմ մարդու իրավունքների ենթադրվող խախտումների եւ Վենեսուելայի նախագահ Նիկոլաս Մադուրոյին աջակցելու պատճառով։ Այս մասին պաշտոնական հայտարարությունում ասել է ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Մայք Պոմպեոն։ Ֆրիասի եւ նրա երեխաների՝ Դեբորա Սինտրա Գոնսալեսի եւ Լեոպոլդո Սինտրա Գոնսալեսի համար այժմ մուտքը Միացյալ Նահանգներ արգելված է, տեղեկացնում է «Գոլոս Ամերիկի»-ն։

Վերջին ժամանակներս ԱՄՆ-ը մի քանի անգամ սահմանափակիչ միջոցներ է մտցրել Կուբայի դեմ նույն ձեւակերպմամբ. մարդու իրավունքների խախտումներ Կուբայում եւ Հավանայի կողմից աջակցություն Վենեսուելայում Նիկոլաս Մադուրոյի ռեժիմին։

Այսպես, օրինակ, 2019 թվականի հոկտեմբերին ԱՄՆ առեւտրի նախարարության հայտարարությունում նշվում էր, որ մտցված պատժամիջոցները կսահմանափակեն առեւտրային ինքնաթիռների օգտագործման Կուբայի հնարավորությունները՝ կուբայական պետական ընկերություններին լիզինգով տրված օդանավերի գործող արտոնագրերը հետ կանչելու օգնությամբ։

Կարգելվեն նաեւ հետագա գործարքները Հավանայի հետ։ Բացի այդ, հոկտեմբերին ԱՄՆ-ը ընդլայնել էր նաեւ պատժամիջոցների ցուցակները Կուբա մատակարարվող ապրանքների համար՝ դրանցում ավելացնելով ամերիկյան արտադրության կոմպլեկտավորողները։
