tstosterone.ru-ն «Ռեյմանի ախտանիշ. ինչո՞ւ են դրանով հիվանդանում որոշ ժողովուրդներ» վերնագրով հոդվածում գրում է, որ «Cell» և «Nature Genetics» ամսագրերում ամերիկացի և ֆրանսիացի գիտնականները միաժամանակ հրապարակել են երկար տարիներ զուգահեռ իրականացրած հետազոտությունների արդյունքները: 

Այդ գիտական հոդվածներում տեղեկացվում է, որ հայտնաբերվել է, այսպես կոչված, «հայկական պարբերական հիվանդության» պատճառ հանդիսացող գենը: Այդ հիվանդությունն այլ կերպ անվանվում է «միջերկրածովային տենդ»: 

Գիտական գրականության մեջ հիվանդությունը ավելի շատ հայտնի է Ջեյնուեյ-Մոզենտալի պարոքսիզմալ ախտանիշ, Ռեյմանի ախտանիշ, Սիգալ-Մամուի հիվանդություն անուններով: Սա հազվագյուտ գենետիկ հիվանդությունների շարքի հիվանդություն է, և հանդիպում է հիմնականում այն ժողովուրդների մոտ, որոնց նախնիները ապրել են Միջերկրական ծովի ավազանում՝ հայեր, հրեաներ, արաբներ, թուրքեր և այլն: 

Հիվանդությունը արտահայտվում է պարբերական տենդով և որովայնի շրջանի ցավերով: Ըստ ամերիկյան հետազոտողների խմբի բժիշկ Դենիել Կաստների, հիվանդության գենի նախնական կրողը ապրել է մի քանի հազար տարի առաջ, բայց ոչ ուշ, քան 40 հազար տարի: 

Դա հնարավոր է եղել պարզել հատուկ բանաձևով, որը ցույց է տալիս գենետիկ հատվածի միջին երկարության և մարդկանց սերունդների քանակի կապը: Կաստները համոզված է, որ այդ նախնական գենը տարածվել է Մերձավոր Արևելքի բնակչության շրջանում մինչ այն ժամանակաշրջանը, երբ այդ վայրերում հայտնվել են հայերը, հրեաները, արաբները և դարձել ժողովուրդ:

 Գիտնականները նաև պարզել են, որ ժամանակակից մարդիկ, որոնք ժառանգել են այդ գենը միայն մեկ ծնողից, չեն ունենում այդ հիվանդությունը, սակայն եթե այն ժառանգում են երկու ծնողից, ապա հիվանդության զարգացումը անհնար է կանխել: Ներկայումս այդ հիվանդությունը տարածված է Հայաստանում, Ադրբեջանում, Թուրքիայում և Մերձավոր Արևելքի այլ երկրներում: 

Սրանք «հայկական պարբերական հիվանդության» տարածման հիմնական օջախներն են: Այն բանից հետո, երբ հայերի մի զգալի մաս տեղափոխվել է Ֆրանսիա, հիվանդությունը սկսել է արձանագրվել նաև այնտեղ: Ռուսաստանում ևս այդ հիվանդության դեպքերը շատացել են, որը նույնպես կապված է հայկական սփյուռքի հետ, բացի դա, հիվանդությունն այդ երկիր են տեղափոխել նաև ղըրղըզներն ու տաջիկները, որոնց էլ ժամանակին այդ հիվանդությունը անցել է Իրանից, Թուրքիայից և արաբական երկրներից: Ներկայումս մարդկանց ազատ միգրացիան բերել է նրան, որ «հայկական պարբերական հիվանդություն» արձանագրվում է բոլոր մայրցամաքներում:
