Միլիարդատեր Մայքլ Բլումբերգն ավելի քան 16 միլիոն դոլար է հատկացրել Ֆլորիդայում դատապարտված հանցագործներին նախագահական ընտրությունների ժամանակ ընտրելու իրավունքով ապահովվելու համար: Այս մասին գրում է thehill.com կայքը:

Ֆլորիդայի իրավունքների վերականգնման կոալիցիան տեղեկացրել է, որ Bloomberg ընկերությունն արդեն վճարել է 32 000 հանցագործի դրամային պարտավորությունները:

«Քվեի իրավունքը հիմնարար է մեր ժողովրդավարության համար և ոչ մի ամերիկացի չպիտի զրկված լինի այդ իրավունքից: Աշխատելով Ֆլորիդայի իրավունքների վերականգնման կոալիցիայի հետ՝ մենք վճռականությամբ լի ենք վերջ դնելու ընտրական իրավունքից զրկմանն ու խտրականությանը»,-հայտարարել է  Bloomberg ընկերության խոսնակը:

2018 թվականին Ֆլորիդայում ընդունվել էր օրենք, ըստ որի՝ հանցագործները կարող են քվեարկել միայն բոլոր տուգանքները վճարելուց հետո: Այդ տուգանքները երբեմն 1000 դոլարից ավելի են:

Մայքլ Բլումբերգը, որը դեմոկրատական կուսակցությունից մասնակցում էր նախագահի թեկնածուի ընտրությանը, առնվազն 100 միլիոն դոլար է ծախսել կուսակցության թեկնածու, ԱՄՆ նախկին փոխնախագահ Ջո Բայդենին նախընտրական քարոզարշավում աջակցելու համար:
