Մինսկ-2019 Եվրոպական խաղերի փոխչեմպիոն Կարապետ Չալյանը (77 կգ) նվաճեց Ճապոնիայի մայրաքաղաք Տոկիոյում ընթացող 32-րդ ամառային Օլիմպիական խաղերի հունահռոմեական ոճի ըմբշամարտի մրցաշարի կիսաեզրափակիչի ուղեգիր:

Երկրորդ գոտեմարտում Հայաստանի ներկայացուցիչը մրցեց 2018թ. աշխարհի չեմպիոն, Մինսկ-2019 Եվրոպական խաղերի հաղթող, 35-ամյա ռուս Ալեքսանդր Չեխիրկինի հետ և հաղթեց 2:1 հաշվով:

Գոտեմարտի սկզբնամասում Կարապետ Չալյանը մրցակցին դուրս հրեց գորգից և վաստակեց մեկ միավոր: Մրցափուլի վերջնամասում հայ ըմբիշը հայտնվեց պարտերում, և հաշիվը հավասարվեց: Ալեքսանդր Չեխիրկինին չհաջողվեց գլորում կատարել, և ըմբիշներն ընդմիջման գնացին 1:1 հաշվի պայմաններում:

Երկրորդ մրցափուլում Կարապետ Չալյանը մեկ միավոր վաստակեց մրցակցի պասիվության համար և ստացավ պարտերում վերևից աշխատելու հնարավորություն, սակայն գլորում կատարել չհաջողվեց: Վերջնամասում հայ ըմբիշը կարողացավ հաջողությամբ պաշտպանվել ու պահպանել նվազագույն առավելությունը՝ 2:1:

Կարապետ Չալյանն Ալեքսանդր Չեխիրկինի նկատմամբ ռևանշի հասավ Մինսկ-2019 Եվրոպական խաղերի եզրափակիչում կրած պարտության համար:

Եզրափակիչի ուղեգիրը գյումրեցի ըմբիշը կվիճարկի Ղրղզստանի ներկայացուցիչ Ակժոլ Մախմուդովի հետ, որը երկրորդ գոտեմարտում 9:1 հաշվով հաղթեց ադրբեջանցի Ռաֆիգ Հուսեյնովի: Կիսաեզրափակիչի գոտեմարտերը կմեկնարկեն Երևանի ժամանակով 13:15-ից: Կիսաեզրափակիչի մյուս զույգը կազմել են հունգարացի Տամաշ Լորինցն ու իրանցի Մոհամադալի Գերային: 

Տոկիո-2020-ում Կարապետ Չալյանը պայքարը սկսել էր 1/8 եզրափակիչից՝ 5:0 հաշվով հաղթելով 2021թ. Ասիայի չեմպիոն, ուզբեկ Յալգաշբայ Բերդիմուրատովին:

Օգոստոսի 2-ին Հայաստանի ներկայացուցիչներից պայքարի մեջ է մտել նաև գործող օլիմպիական չեմպիոն Արթուր Ալեքսանյանը (97 կգ), որը 1/8 եզրափակիչում 4:1 հաշվով հաղթել է Ղրղզստանի ներկայացուցիչ 25-ամյա Ուզուր Ջուժուպբեկովին: Քառորդ եզրափակիչում Արթուր Ալեքսանյանի մրցակիցը կլինի ֆինն Արվի Սավոլայնենը:

Հիշեցնենք, որ Տոկիո-2020-ի ըմբշամարտի մրցաշարում Հայաստանի հավաքականի առաջին ներկայացուցիչ Արմեն Մելիքյանն օգոստոսի 1-ին հաղթանակով մեկնարկելուց հետո պարտություն էր կրել քառորդ եզրափակիչում և լքել պայքարը:

Հունահռոմեական ոճի ըմբշամարտի մրցաշարում Հայաստանի վերջին ներկայացուցիչ Կարեն Ասլանյանը (67 կգ) պայքարի մեջ կմտնի օգոստոսի 3-ին:

Ազատ ոճի ըմբշամարտի մրցաշարում Հայաստանը կունենա 2 մասնակից՝ Արսեն Հարությունյանը (57 կգ) և Վազգեն Թևանյանը (65 կգ):

Կարապետ Չալյան, հունահռոմեական ոճի ըմբշամարտ, 77 կգ քաշային կարգ։

Ծնվել է 1993 թվականի օգոստոսի 7-ին Գյումրիում։ Անձնական մարզիչն է Արթուր Պետրոսյանը:

Կարապետ Չալյանը 2010 թվականի պատանիների Եվրոպայի փոխչեմպիոն է, 2012 թվականի երիտասարդների աշխարհի առաջնության բրոնզե մեդալակիր, 2013 թվականի երիտասարդների Եվրոպայի եւ աշխարհի չեմպիոն, 2014 թվականի Եվրոպայի մինչեւ 23 տարեկանների առաջնության բրոնզե մեդալակիր, 2015 թվականի բանակայինների աշխարհի առաջնության չեմպիոն, 2016 թվականի մեծահասակների Եվրոպայի առաջնության բրոնզե մեդալակիր, Մինսկ-2019 Եվրոպական խաղերի փոխչեմպիոն, 2020 թվականի Եվրոպայի առաջնության բրոնզե մեդալակիր։

Օլիմպիական ուղեգիրը նվաճել է 2019 թվականի աշխարհի առաջնությունում։ Ամուսնացած չէ։
