Դժվար է պատկերացնել մի իրավիճակ, երբ ժողովուրդը դուրս է գալիս սեփական հայրենիքի դեմ։ Եթե «ժողովուրդ» բառի արմատը ժողովն է, այսինքն՝ այն ուղղակիորեն արտացոլում է հին հունական դեմոսի գաղափարը, ապա «հայրենակից» բառի հիմքում հայրենիքն է, այսինքն՝ հայրենակիցը նույն հողի գաղափարն ունեցողն է։ Դրանից բխում է, որ եթե «ժողովուրդ» հասկացությունը որոշակիորեն ամբոխահաճ մեկնաբանություն ունի, «հայրենակիցը» շատ իրական բան է նշանակում։

Դե իսկ «ժողովրդասեր», ժողովրդի համար ամեն ինչի պատրաստ այս իշխանության գործունեությունը բոլորիս աչքի առաջ է արդեն գրեթե չորս տարի։ Առանց խոշորացույցի էլ՝ կարելի է փորձել նրանց շարքում գտնել գեթ մեկին, որն իր ներսում հայրենիքի գաղափարի կրող է, բայց ապարդյուն։ Եվ անընդունելի ու խայտառակ երեսպաշտություն է, որ այս մարդիկ իրավունք ունեն բարձրանալու Եռաբլուր պանթեոն և խոսելու Հայաստանի ու Արցախի ապագայից։ Փաստ է այն, որ հենց այս վարչախումբն է կորստյան մատնել Արցախը, բայց միամիտ ձևանալով՝ այնտեղ ինչ-որ զարգացման ծրագրեր է քննարկում։ Եթե այդքան քաղաքական խիզախություն ունեն, թող քննարկեն կորսված հայրենիքի վերադարձը, ընդ որում՝ ոչ թե նախկին ԼՂԻՄ-ը, այլ նախապատերազմյան Արցախը։

Կարող ենք փաստել, որ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի համար ոչ թե նույնիսկ պատմական հիշողությունից, այլ իրական հայրենիքից հրաժարվելն ամենօրյա գործելակերպ է դարձել։ Դա սկսվեց «Տեղ գյուղից այն կողմ Ադրբեջան է» վիրավորական ձևակերպմամբ, այն դեպքում, երբ Տեղ գյուղից այն կողմ իրականում դեռևս հայկական մնացած Աղավնոն ու Բերձորն են։ Վարչապետի աթոռը զավթած անձը, փաստորեն, մեր հայրենիքի այս բնակավայրերը, նաև Ստեփանակերտը, անվանում է Ադրբեջան։ Օրեցօր նման հայադավ պնդումների շարքը թանձրացավ՝  «Էյվազլի» ու «Չայզամի», տավուշյան անկլավներ, «Արցախը չէր կարող չլինել Ադրբեջանի կազմում» և այլ բացահայտ հակահայկական բնորոշումները։

Հարց է առաջանում, թե խորհրդային շրջանի քարտեզների մեջբերման սիրահար Փաշինյանն, օրինակ, երբևէ հրապարակային հարցադրում հնչեցրե՞լ է, թե ինչու է 1920-ականների սկզբներին հենց նման անարդարացի սահմանագծում արվել խորհրդային Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև, կամ ինչո՞ւ է սահմանագիծը փոփոխվել դրան հաջորդած տասնամյակներում։ Ի վերջո, բոլոր հնարավոր վտանգավոր հայտարարությունները նրա շուրթերից արդեն հնչել են, և պարզ է, որ Բաքուն դրանցով է առաջիկայում առաջնորդվելու։ Տեղի ունեցածից կարող ենք եզրակացնել, որ հայրենիքի այս կամ այն հատվածը թյուրքական անունով կոչելու կամ այն թշնամուն նվիրելու համարժեքն, օրինակ, այն է, որ հաջորդիվ արգելվի նաև «Արևմտյան Հայաստան» ասելը, այն կսկսեն հանել դպրոցական դասագրքերից և հանրային խոսքից, դրա փոխարեն պարտադրվի ասել «Թուրքիա»։

Ըստ էության, Հայաստանի որևէ առաջնորդ երբևէ այսքան թեթևությամբ և անհոգությամբ չի վարվել սեփական հայրենիքի ճակատագրի, պատմության համար վավերագրվող իր ելույթների և դրանցում առկա հակազգային պնդումների հարցում։ Դժվար է ասել՝ Փաշինյանն արդեն ծանրութեթև էլ չի անո՞ւմ՝ ինչ է խոսում, թե՞ գործում է թշնամական հրահանգով, փաստն այն է, որ նա վաղուց Ադրբեջանին և Թուրքիային տվել է բոլոր օրինական հիմքերը՝ մեզնից խլելու այն ամենը, ինչն իրավունքով մեզ է պատկանում՝ ավելին, երբևէ չի էլ վիճարկվել։
